yeah, i know the price seems way high, that's why I'm looking at other options. Problem is, if I get anything but a stock cat replacement, then I would have to get it tuned, which ends up bringing my total cost higher than it was with a stock replacement....:-(

Why do you need it tuned?

Do you not know ANYONE that will pass it with a CEL even if you can prove it has a converter in it...or am I missing the issue...

Question, if it throws the error code, does it physically give any problems to the operation to the car?

If it doesn't, then I could get the better cat. and see if the code comes up. If it does, then I'd get the car tuned when it's convenient. If it doesn't, then there are no issues.

Well, that was another question, would my repair shop be able to fix any error code issues with it if they know it's a legal cat? Or does it have to be tuned to correctly adjust for the difference in backpressure?

A high flow cat could let more evil gasses into our ozone. the 02 sensor behind the cat monitors those gases, and if they read too high, throws a code saying your cat isn't doing its job. It shouldn't affect drivability, the sensor in front of the cat is incharge of telling the pcm your air/fuel. least wise thats my understanding...

I have the non-fouler trick on my rear O2 and don't have a code, Ill eventually need to replace the straight pipe 3" portion of my SD headers with a CAT (I have until may 2012, next emmisions test) Would a magnaflow (or any other prefered type) high flow 3" cat fit right in?

You'll want a cat that actually does something.

magnaflow 46009 or 45009. order from hottexhaust.com pm me for discount code.

just under 200 to your door.

Also note: e-test standard is changing starting jan 2012. Might not need a cat, might need a factory pcm/bin. who knows at this point.

yeah, to make the picture make more sense though, the doors and truck have alternating red & white reflective tape for added night visibility when doors are open, specifically on the side of the road

He's right! And it shouldn't throw a code. If it does there's an easy fix! Get a spark plug fouler ($10 at NAPA) and put the O2 sensor in it, then screw it into the pipe. It will make the sensor a little further out of the pipe safely and thus not detect too much flow. I put a Magnaflow High-Flow cat on my Camaro and it never threw an engine code.

Why do you want a 2.5" inlet and 3" outlet? Are you changing your exhaust to 3"?

Changing the downpipes and such was just an option from a prefab part. Mostly now I'm looking into a directly welded MagnaFlow Catalytic Converter. My problem so far has been finding the correct one to get. There are sooo many different models. Double check, the 2004 GPs like mine are 2.25'' in/out pipes right?

Has anyone actually gotten a MagnaFlow Cat for a GP similar to mine? It is a little difficult to look for the different types of cats available from this company and I have yet to do measurements of my current cat to get some idea for how big the new one should be.
