    Its a federal emission device.

Sooooooooo a state law can't trump a federal one.

Regardless, the info on good cats is out there.

Thread seems to have ignored that entirely.

Agreed, it's an EPA regulation, state laws can only make the requirements even higher (like California's CARB requirements).

All things considered, apparently all MagnaFlow cats meet EPA & OBDII stats so atleast my new setup passes those requirements.

Got the ZZP pipe installed and all today. Fit well, but old bolts and such were rusty, so the guy that installed it had some problems with them. All in all, it worked out. The stock O2 Sensor was shot, rusted and threads died when having to remove it. Ordered a new O2 Sensor and will get that in tomorrow, install it on Friday. Right now it's running with a plug in it. Works great, fixed all the acceleration problems and such I was having. Once the new O2 Sensor is install, I'lll have the original error codes reset and then I'll see what happens.

Question, would there be any advantage of replacing the upstream O2 sensor? I figured if I'm replacing the downstream sensor and getting a new cat that maybe now would be the time to replace the upstream as well.

Also, if getting the upstream replaced, any brands better than others? Was planning on a Bosch.

Please don't go WOT if you don't have the front o2 sensor installed. You are making the car run pig rich (it fails into rich mode so you don't blow up the car). Ive been fine with bosch o2 sensors. I'd get a sensor from sparkplugs.com. A denso. I've had too luck with them in the o2 sensor side of things.

the front o2 sensor is the stock one, when the new cat was installed the downstream o2 sensor died (threads came off) so bought a new downstream o2 sensor. Just not sure if getting a new upsteam O2 sensor is worth it if the current one is working.

Also, so far with the new cat system and downstream O2 sensor I haven't had any engine codes come up yet. Drove about 150miles so far so maybe I'll get lucky.

So i noticed something since I got this new setup. If idling, in gear, but stopped, the RPMs will drop from the normal ~800-700 to like ~400 and then return to normal. The duration is only for a couple seconds, with a like 15~10 second cycle time. Also, if the car is parked and running I can hear the exhaust make a "pop" sound every 15~10 seconds. Any idea what is causing this? Is it something to worry about and is there anything to do to fix it?

It doesn't really seem to be an issue, I haven't had any problems accelerating, but just seems strange that it has problems idling.

Or it could be the pcm making the system super rich testing for a cat.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

If it's the pcm, would replacing the upstream O2 sensor help? Or would the best thing to do be to tune the car? Since it only seems to happen when Idling (parked or in gear but stopped) I'm not really worried about it.

If it was a misfire of the Spark Plugs, wouldn't it happen all the time, not just at low RPMs?
