hey, would anyone be able to explain what a whipple kit is, and what are some of the benefits of using that to replace the old supercharger? I'm looking into different areas to mod a gtp,and i have a question about this one. thanks guys.

How about we start with you need insane cooling mods that cost more than the car is worth.

And the fact that a whipple is also worth more than the car is.

Might as well go turbo or pick a new platform.

Matt, you forgot to mention how hard it is to find a whipple these days...

i know about the cooling and all the supporting mods. I'm thinking about picking up a 6 speed GTO, or a GTP. The thing is, the GTO is around 18k, then plus mods on top of that. But you can pick up a GTP for pretty cheap and then put not close to that in mods and still achieve some good times. You see?

If you got the money to whipple a GTP, you got the money to get a GTO.

the GTO would have an sts rearmount turbo kit on it (supporting mods and all the stuff too). and i just recently thought of the whipple kit. I was thinking3.0 maybe lower for the GTP with supporting mods. and one of the main reasons i want the GTO is for stick.

Oh and 12's are not fast. 12's are normal for factory cars nowadays.

    yeah.

GTP can do fast for cheap.

    But it isn't fun.

    Nor can they turn well.

Two grand into turning and you're still better off with a different platform.

Who needs to turn when you're drag racing?

I'd rather stick with a platform that not everybody else and their moms have, and mod something else to be faster.

So you'd rather spend money to hit 12's instead of start there?

If you shop smart... LS1 powered F bodies can be had for the cost of a decent W body and enough mods to run 12's.

Note I'm not saying bottom barrel cars here... We all know you CAN get that mystical $500 W body that just needs a starter or a battery.

I've never once complained about money when it comes to modding. Its not even a factor in my book. I ain't rich, but there's cheap ways to mod and there's expensive ways to mod with any car.

LS2, H/C/I/Spray, some tires and some seat time...10's.

Unless you just prefer the GTP, there really is no point in going with one.

    rear mount turbo's aren't a good idea.

Turbo systems use the thermal energy of the exhaust to generate power so by giving it more time to cool down, thats lost power.
