I haven't changed the coils but I have been told to junk the msds and put stock back on by quite a few people. And no they're still the poly mounts on the engine. I pulled the abs ign fuse today and it seemed to help a bit aqctually. I did get a ses light and code that popped up was cylinde3r 4 misfire. Put new plugs and msd wires. Still get it on hard acceleration. That's why I thought compression check but luckily it turned out fine. And I thought when coils went it would set off 2 cylinders to misfire
Check over your plugs and wires really well. Make sure you have them run from the correct coils to the correct plugs. And yes, the MSD coils are not doing you any favors.
As for traction control in your 97, there is no way to "turn it off". It can only be deprogrammed out of the computer.
Your plugs are fouling, are they all fouling, or just ones from certain cylinders? Like Zef said, you may have the spark plug wires running to the wrong coil packs. If it's cylinders 3 and 4 you're receiving misfires from, those 2 may have the wires switched. And like others said, haven't heard good things about MSD coilpacks. Some though few, have run them with no problems.
