I have a 99 Grand Prix gtp and i'm trying to figure out the easiest way to install the headers, ive searched and cannot find an exact write up. I have the engine out right now. Would it be easier to put them on, then install the engine? Or should i wait until the engine is in? Any help would be great! Thanks

Your best bet is to look at the top swap write up as that is essentially what you are taking off and putting on.

Thanks for the quick reply. Any other input? Do you have the link for the full write up?

Speed Daddy Header install writeup - General Tech Discussion

There's that ^^. Idk how much iit'll help you if you have different headers, but it should at least give you a general idea. Good luck! Took me a lot of time, sweat, and anger to get mine in hahaha.

Best bet is to lay the rear header in place. As you bring the engine in and it's still floating, hook up the two ends (studs with nuts) and then you can finish it off easily after the engine is in place.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Getting the transmission dipstick bent just right and back in was the biggest pain on my SD header install. Specifically getting the little 10mm bolt back int, that was a PITA.

Take the fans out...makes a CAKE of an install if you've got ratchet straps on it...which you should...it makes life way easier.

you dont need to do either.

Remore the EGR too, it'll be in the way. Speaking from experience haha.

Guys...I've installed three sets of these. Someone please tell me why you want to take out the dipstick tube for the trans. Why you want to ratchet the motor forward while it's out of the car and why this is so difficult?

I've never worried about a dipstick tube. These aren't togs. Those are the only ones I've had issues with dipstick bending.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
