I was looking through the manual and the Supercharger states it also takes separate oil besides the normal engine oil? If so, can I do it myself and how do I? I'm also looking into changing out the Transmission oil to get it fresh.

The GTP has 115K on it now and I want to make sure its running strong. Please help with any other maintenance recommended.

    Thanks in Advance !

Please search the tech tips etc. I'm pretty sure someone has done a writeup on both.

for the supercharger you will need a decent size syringe to suck out the old fluid and it is GM supercharger fluid... take out the allen screw on the snout of the blower and suck out old fluid then replace with proper fluid...

As far as the trans goes dexron VI is the trans fluid you will need and basically you need to drop the trans pan and change the filter while your in there and then replace the amount of fluid that came out

Or just take it and have it flushed at a shop that has a fluid exchanger

Thanks guys for the help. I feel confident I can change the supercharger oil myself. Do you guys think the transmission oil can be done easily?

    Wondering!

    THANKS AGAIN!

Yes very easy. start with the bolts in the back right corner of the passenger side of the pan. only do about 3-4 of them then start on the front of the pan. the fluid will go for the back of the pan because of gravity. it should start leaking then start looseing more on the back to let the pan drop a little. it take about 10-15 min. to let most drain out as you continue to loosen bolts. then just drop the pan and put new filter and gasket on. It took me about and hour and 6-7 quarts of tranny fluid.

Flushing a 4T65E is never the best option...all I have ever heard is horror stories after people get the transmission flushed, especially with higher mileage. Just drop the pan and clean it...install a new filter and fill back up with Dexron VI. You can also get new GM S/C oil at your local GM dealer for about 8 bucks a bottle IIRC...

Just don't have it "flushed" at a service center...just drop the pan like we've explained

basically on higher mileage vehicles you can get a build up of stuff inside your tranny. If you drop the pan and drain it that way, you replace the filter and some of the fluid without upsetting these deposits. If you have it flushed there is a good chance that it can loosen up these deposits and it can get loose and cause your tranny to fail if it gets stuck somewhere that it shouldnt be. Also if you just drop the pan, you leave a good portion of your original fluid in there so the new tranny fluid can just mix with it. If you do a complete fluid swap out it can be harsh to the tranny because the chemical makeup of the new fluids is completely different than the stuff that has been in there a long time.

Thanks everyone as I'm about to start in 1hr. I finally got the time to get everything and dedicate a day to do this. The GTP had been sitting till I got this done.

    What I picked up today.

    1. 8 Qt. Castrol Dexon VI GM Trans Fluid - $56
    2. GM Super Charger Oil - $14
    3. Autozone Generic Filter/Trans. Gasket - $16
    4. Syphon Tube for the SuperCharger Oil - $3.5-

Anything I should know in advance or missing before I start?

    Thanks everyone!

If it is original you should be able to re use the rubber tranny pan gasket. Do not use the cheap one that came with the filter unless there is something wrong with the one in there now.

    * * HOW MUCH SUPERCHARGER OIL DO I FILL UP WITH? * *

I got one of the 4oz Supercharger Oil. Is that enough or do I need more?

The service rep stated 1 4oz is enough. However I found someone stating it needs more?
