    hello

i have a 98 gtp. i just recently did a intake job on it cause the car has 192000 miles on her and i heard of the gaskets goin bad so i decided to replace them. i reaplaced the valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, supercharger gasket and t/b gaskets. when i got everything bolted back together i tried startin it up i fired up then died automatically. i did it again and this time gave it a little gas but heard something whistling really loud. the car will not stay runnin without me making it. i think the noise is comin from the blower. it doesnt do it when no boost it happening but as soon the boost light comes on it whistles really loud and cuts out. any ideas would be appreciated

Vacuum leak. Did you use any RTV on the blower gasket? I always used RTV black on it running a 1/16 bead arount the blower outlet on both sides of the gasket. Then I smear it in a circular motion. Works every time. Spray bottle plus soapy water will help find the leak. With a whistle you could just try to listen and isolate the leak. Good luck.

i used gasket maker on it but i didnt put a solid bead around the whole thing. the rotors werent binding. when i bolted the blower on i spun the pulley and it did fine. i did leave a small chunk of old gasket on the intake tho. think that could be the prob?

oh my, Yes those surfaces have to be clean for it to seal. You also need to let the RTV set up for atleast 24 hours, before starting the car

And...as for the 24 set time...its debatable. As long as its been sitting for about a half an hour to an hour...which is normal re-install time for the rest of the parts...it'll be good to start.

No need to let the RTV set up for 24hr. I have stared up sbc's 30min after just using RTV to seal the valley on the intakes and it held 60psi of oil pressure.

There is no pressure on the lifter valley, you do not need to let the RTV setup there.

On anything where pressure is involved, you should let the RTV dry.
