    Hmm. That sounds a little different than mine actually. In your vid there were a few times that it sounded like there were some high pitch pings in there. Weird. Mine almost sounds more like an exhaust leak.

    Have you tried removing the serp belt and running it to see if the sound is still there?

    No i havent tried that yet. But does mine sound like it could be something serious like a piston or rod? Like i said before this engine was just put in back in january and im on a stock pulley.
    Gen V, 3.0, Stage 2 heads, XP Cam, SD Headers, N*, LQ4, ZZP Stage 2 Gen 3 Intercooler, CAI, AL 104's Gapped to .055, #130 Springs, 42.5lb Injectors, ZZP Tune.

    mines made the same noise for years if you put it in gear it goes away? My neighbors regal does the same

    Yes it does. That and when the engine warms up.

    I wouldn't freak out about it because so many people say they have the same issue and nothing comes of it. I'd start by pulling the belt though and see what happens.

    Hey all,

    I actually work for GM and there was a bulletin placed a few years ago in regards to this. This is a common problem in all 3800 engines. GM has advised owners to purchase and put in Lubricity Additive (CANADIAN GM PART NUMBER 992961). I did this to my grand prix and it has helped significantly, but I also have an exhaust leak. Hope this helps everyone =)
