DHP is THE BEST Mail order tune ever for the 3800...aside a custom tune.
I understand where your coming from, i was much more skeptical but recently i have been reading about the wonders of tuning and slowly becoming a believer. I wouldn't be surprised if other influential factors played a part in the run though (ambient temp, elevation, wind etc).
well intense finally sent me the pcm for the correct car and it works. still have a sour taste in my mouth about the whole thing, but the tune feels good, and no harm done to the car so all is well
I am very happy with the product. I definitely like the higher revs, 2nd gear hold on to those high rpm's FOREVER. that s/c jus screams for mercy. its beautiful. the shifting is excellent. Also, like the skip shifts. 55 to 100 is much quicker, and passing on the interstate is done with a blip of the throttle. my friend has a slobalt that he thinks is fast, and i took him for a ride last night. i wish i could have recorded his expressions. he jus sat there and talked about how fu**** awesome it was the whole time so now I REALLY can't wait to get that smaller pulley on. i swear cars are a disease. once you start modding, its all over. Im glad im 21 yrs old and single bc all my $$ goes straight to this damn car haha.
Let it flow before dropping pulley sizes man...
i was under the impression that with my current mods, plus headers, auotlites, and new wires i could safely go to a 3.4?
genV'ed cars are a lot easier to get knock on because of the more efficient supercharger. Get a 3.5" to start...then if your knock free get a 3.4"...get the modular system...that way you don't have to worry about pressing pulley's on.
the performance on your supercharger with a 3.6 is close to the performance level of a 3.4 on the 97-03's.........dont start with the 3.4 as I doubt you would be knock free even with the mods you mentioned above. I personally would start with a 3.6 and see where you stand. you can always re sell the 3.6 pulley if you dont need it anymore and can run the 3.5 for sure.........
I was plannin on gettin the modular pulley anywayz. jus figure the option to change size couldnt hurt, especially when they really aren't that much more expensive. and I'll take your advice and start with a 3.6, or a 3.5, and see where I'm at. Thanks for the tip
EDIT: By thanks, I was thanking both Blue and Liqui, as you both had good advice.
If you are getting headers a 3.6" should be great for a knock free pulley drop without a custom tune![]()
