So with some issues of throwing the accessory belt a couple of times on the race car I came to the conclusion that between the A/C delete bracket and the alternator, with ZZP's alt spacer bracket I have too much unsupported length and high RPM's are causing the belt to jump quite a bit. My question, is there a way to run the accessory belt with an electric water pump and not run the A/C delete pulley, there-by running a much shorter belt and keeping it from flying off at high RPM's

I agree on the long unsupported belt and the alternator bracket causing you to use a longer belt, I ws thinking about it on the way home about having another guided idler at the midpoint of the belt as it runs to the alternator it seemed to move quite a but just under idle. I know I have seen tensioner pulleys with guides on both sides, that may be an option as well. I am going to be in the JY tomorrow so I will look and see if I can find an application for you if you like. I wonder how the electric waterpumps would do under the extended racing you guys do. I know a lot of people run them on the street and I have seen a lot in drag racing but a 24 hour endurance race is a whole different animal.

I found they make a standard and a HD application so HD is what we would go with, it would keep the water pump turning even if the belt flew off, all we would loose at that point would be power steering and alternator. Plus with eliminating the A/C delete that belt would have to be re-routed, just wondering if there is clearance.

That's what I been thinking, I don't have the pump yet so no idea of how much room there is to run that combo

I like that routing, though I would look into a pulley with guides on it for that idler since you have that 4 foot extension to the alternator, and wrap that sucker out to 7K..

Wonder if you can delete the AC delete and move it up to that empty idler, looks like it's for the standard routing.

the power steering pump may not be happy about that small of belt contact....AND you would have to run an oversized idler pulley it looks like, to clear the elec water pump.

I can also invision a smaller idler...almost like a belt wrap on a long stud with a spacer through the bolt of the alternator front bracket.

Use an aftermarket tensioner and if you need I can fab a bracket, I think you'll need more wrap for that belt on the PS pump.

I don't know what pulley size you're using but maybe try a 1" offset pulley so the blower will run off the accessories. It may not help but it's an idea.

Along the same idea as James, let's add in the Bonneville PS pump bracket that spaces the pump back about an inch or two for clearance, downsize the tensioner pulley and add a guide or pulley below it.

Pic is horrible..but gives you the idea
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
