Yes, all you need to do is mill the guides. A port and polish is highly recommended, but sounds like you are getting that done.

The xpz requires different pushrod lengths. Stock is fine strenth-wise, but they are not the correct lenghts.

What about the s3? same lengths?
Its starting to sound like I should wait on the cam until I have a good chunk of cash to throw at it, and just go e85 for now.

Dude. I looked at s1x cam with a more lift using 1.8 or 1.9 rockers but same duration. Then I looked at the xpz vs s3. I considered a custom grind but I could what I found was if it could have been done it would have already. Soo many numbers being thrown around.
Searched for days on actual s3 and xpz 1/4 miles and dyno charts.

SMILE FOR DAYS from blower sound and cammed E85 simple setup goodness!!!!

Best word of advice is this ....... Do S1X and SAVE the rest for transmission mods and rebuild!!! HAHAH S1X is plenty to nuke a transmission.

As for XP screw that cam its takes more to run than S1X like double roller and bigger springs, while offering barely any difference.

Ask Jayroca about his eleventybillon engine swaps while I just have to worry about keeping the transmission together on the S1X/E85 setup.....
Ive assploded 2 flexplates because I drive like a retard. But again I'd do S1X over XP all day every day!
It was 3 swaps bish.... And im still mad we did not race when you were here in DC when you had the s1x ...my xp on 2.8 gen v stg 3 p&p heads on e85 might have surprised your corn built motor hehe

I think Im going to e85 first, if im going to bother with a cam I might as well go for the throat.
I can e85 the thing for 500, a "Proper" cam install with a big boy is going to cost me closer to a thousand it looks like.

cam, 330, lifters 100(my LS7 have metal in them) Rings 120, retainers 40, double roller and install parts 150, gaskets 100, misc head work ~50-200, tuner 260 depending what I get done.

    e85, Injectors 250, tuner 260
( I could just throw 42# and go too)

    I appreciate all the info!
