Hey, I have an 03 grand prix gt, and my engine has been dead for about a year now. I finally picked up a new engine, but I want some tips on how to install it. I have never done an engine swap before. So if anyone here has done it (which I am sure a bunch of people have), can you please give me some pointers? I did a quick search on google and youtube but couldn't find anything, so with my busy schedule I thought this would be the best place to get answers.

Put a small jack with a block of wood under the tail end of the trans, lift it up some while dropping the motor in, will make life a lot easier on you. Also, don't put the ***** bolt back in, will save you some time next pull.

Edit: No need to pull the hood either, disconnect the hood struts and you can open it up some more, wedge a couple blocks of wood under the higher hood hinge bolt and the channel along the fender on both sides. If you have a helper, just have them make sure it doesn't move or use a ratchet strap through the inside of the car with the doors open for safety. Last pull I did was on a windy day, never budged. I do this once the chains are hooked up and all bolts removed ready to pull.
