So I have a 2004 w/ the 3.8L NA... and I am having an issue with my idle. It has yet to stall out on me, but when i'm in drive or sometimes even in park I find the car hunting trying to find a stable RPM to run smoothly. This most commonly occurs when the A/C is on as well. It hunts between 400-1000rpm and shakes a little bit. When I hold the throttle a tiny bit, it cures this issue. Any ideas?

Gunked up throttle body most likely if you haven't cleaned it.

    Try that, it's free.

Clean the MAF sensor too...get some MAF cleaner at your local parts store.

If you've never done LIM gaskets...that might be your next step...as the '04 cars didn't have metal LIM gaskets from the factory.

I've cleaned the throttle body, replaced plugs, wires, and coil packs to try and fix this already... haven't cleaned the MAF yet but that might be a good next step... and just out of curiosity.. how would the LIM gasket effect idle speed?

    Thanks!

oh also for more info here, i have about 120k on the car, 180deg stat and a zzp tuned pcm.
