Hello im new on this forum but like it so far.
I have a question about lifters. i had an oil change done recently and the technician ran the car without oil (about 30-40 seconds). i usually do my own oil changes but if i dont have time i just pay for them. since then Ive had lifter noise that is very apparent. i have talked to the shop but no help so i give up. i just need general advice on possible damage... and replacement of the lifters. i have never done them before is the process relatively easy or does the whole cam have to come out?? Are there additives to help quiet the noise... any advice is helpful to me.
im fairly mechanically inclined but i would like help from fellow 3800 owners that may have experienced this. thank you.
car has 130,000 and i use valvoline maxlife synblend with a quart of lucas.

If it was caused by the shop, I would be going after $ to help pay for the repair. Lifters only require pulling the lower intake and valve covers. Then unbolt your rockers, pull pushrods, replace lifters. Get new rocker bolts as they are tty. Remove fuel pump relay and crank then engine until the oil pressure light goes off, this will help prime the lifters before you start it.

There is a video of lower intake gaskets. (Scotty will be along soon with a link, he's got them all) The job is basically LIM gaskets and valve cover gaskets combined. Add in the rocker bolts and then the lifter plastic retainers and you'd be done. Very straight forward on our motor.

lucas transmission stop slip VVVVVVV this you can just add to the trans, or use it when you service your trans. such as a pan drop and filter change.

for oil use what ever it says on your oil cap for oil. or in the manual. 10w 30, or 5w 30 usually.
