gonna replace the lower intake gaskets on my 2001 grand prix 3.8 NA

gonna flush coolant at this time and get rid of the dexcool

planning on replacing the coolant elbows also at the time

was looking at this kit at autozone, is this everything I need?

You want the second one down. Part number # MS98014T

Which is the metal/steel ones, AC delco uses aluminum, but same thing.

You also want to buy 10 quarts of oil and a new filter, so you can wash away the coolant in the valley and to change it twice so you dont have internal engine problems.

Where at in MN are you?

I would also get some RTV if you don't already have some and a new thermostat.

yes sir that is everything you need besides the coolant, coolant elbows, oil, and oil filter, and rtv for the four corners when installing the Lower intake manifold. After you're done changing the lower intake gaskets and the job is complete make sure you drain your oil and refill with fresh. I go a little over the top and do my refill with a cheap oil, run the car for 5-10 minutes, then drain and refill with mobil 1. All up to you on how safe you want to be making sure all the coolant/water is out of your oil.

the intake isn't leaking just doing it as preventive measures

So is the Felpro that much higher quality?

You just want the metal style intake gaskets, so that way you never have to worry about them again.

You could always to plugs and wires if you wanted to add those to your list.

If the valve covers are leaking, it's the perfect time to do them. I'd include a bottle of TB cleaner and take that off while you are at it. Like the upper, the gasket is reusable. Check that upper manifold in the EGR are to ensure it's not getting weak. If it seems weak, etiher plug the ports or replace upper.

See my L36 UIM Failure thread for more info on the most common killer of the NA motor.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

thanks for everyone's help, job done and running good!!

    Couple tips I learned -

buddy mechanic told me to put a good bead of black RTV sealant on the vally, then lay down the vally rubber gasket and lay another bead.
Remember to transfer the little black hose on the upper plenum intake gasket

other than that it was super easy compared to my ford powerstroke 6.0 oil cooler rebuild job haha

Oh and one more thing, autozone had to special order both felpro gasket sets and did not have the dorman coolant elbows in stock.

    Oriely's had everything in stock!
