    guys,

    Take a look at this video. Do you recognize the problem? i dont know if i only have one issue or multiple ones, but one issue is under normal accel, the car will accelerate ok for a moment then around 2.5k lose power and the tach bounces some. The other problem is actually a whiney noise when the car downshifts on harder acceleration such as an on ramp.

    I do have an engine light on, but i got it scanned and its a P0410, the secondary air intake system. I have been told that that would not likely cause the symptoms i am seeing.

    another member mentioned pulling the o2 sensor out of the cat and replacing it with a plug to rule out a clogged cat. I plan to try that tomorrow. it revs in place just fine though, its only while driving that i have the problems.

    That's because when it's sitting there there's no load on the engine...now try moving 3500 pounds and it doesn't like it so much.

    You don't replace it with a plug you just pull the O2 out and see if it's better.

    Good catch there...I didn't even notice that he said replace it with a plug.

    i just had the cat changed at the dealer for free. Covered by GM. It solved the problem! what a relief.

    hmmm my car accelerates just like that, just did a tune up and it's better but still weak. how did you go about getting a free new cat?? lol
