    I have been looking to do some mods and every time a ask people say that I 4t60 tranny but ive been doing some reading and useing google and this http://www.grandprixforums.net/top-s...info-7763.html say that a 97 L36 N/A has a 4t65e can someone help

    except for 1997... SE's and GT's recieved the old 4t60's, not the 4t65e's

    Yup...and they are vacuum powered. Very weak transmissions...modding your car even N/A would prolly destroy it. Your best choice would be a '98-'02 Non- GTP transmission, and then swap the diffs so you have the HD Diff...Diff swap isn't necessary, they are just stronger than the GT ones.

    I cant get rid of the car it was a gift an i love it to much how hard would it be to swap trannys or wourld it be worth it

    There is a how to on removing the trans. See if it is working for you.

    no would it be worth putting in a 4T65E and should i get a new one or a used one and rebuild it

    As long as there is a warranty I don't see why it wouldn't be fine for you. If you have the money just get a triple edge performance transmission...its about the same price as a rebuild at a shop and you'll never have to worry about the transmission...evah
