    Hey everyone,

Thanks for reading my Noob Post! I just purchased my dads 98 GTP that's been sitting for a few years being somewhat neglected. Overall it runs strong with a few little ticks and pops here and there. Im going to do alot of searching on the forums to help get her into shape, but let me introduce the car and any help you could leave here would be greatly appreciated.

    73000 miles, 4dr, all stock.

1)Its got the leak in the cowl seal. I found a thread about an updated fix and thats my first job this weekend.

    2) or Maybe this is 1b) There is a god awful squeak coming from the console when I run the climate control. I'm not sure if this is related to the water leak. But it seems like that could be the motor that the leak kills.

    3) There is a pretty good pop when I go into reverse. Not right when I shift, but when I start to back up, and It doest do it if I'm very gentle with the gas, but anything more than a nudge and it makes a pretty good pop.

    4) I'm planning on getting some new wheels and tires, Replacing the tint, fixing a shot window switch n the next few weeks.

    5) Also and recommendations for basic airflow Mods (DP, CatBack and Intake) Software, or out of the normal mods I should consider.

Thanks guys and I look forward to getting to know the car and the group of GP lovers. Im coming off an 01 Audi S4 AWD TwinTurbo V6. The thing was a blast to drive but Ill never own another VW, It officially broke my Bank. I'm looking forward to tuning american again! Thanks All...

First off, welcome to the community! There is a TON of useful information on this website so be sure to take advantage!!!

When it comes to your squeak under the dash when the climate control is on; sounds like your blower motor is bad. Pretty common problem when water gets into the blower motor, probably from your clogged cowl. Do a search and like I said, it's an easy fix.

The pop of the tranny in reverse is something I'm not familiar with, but the guys over in the transmission section are pretty good, and usually will help you troubleshoot.

Basic beginner mod ideas can be found in the L67/L32 section. Great place to start. Look at the stickies.
