    Howdy Peeps!

Yes, I know its been a while since I've been in here. Haven't got around to my top swap yet. But this past week, SES Indicator popped on; took it to Autozone, had the code ran. it came up 1406(EGR VALVE STUCK OPEN)? Anyone experience EGR issues? Could it be another sensor throwing this code?

My wife's GT had this SES light on for a long time and it always said EGR valve. We took it to sevearal dealers and none could fix it. Lots of wasted money as there was no warranty. I eventualy found that some parts had been left out around the PCV valve assembly and I'm convinced it was done on purpose to generate return trips as the light would stay off for a week or so, then come back on. I replaced the parts and the light has not been back.
I've oftened wondered if the engine is getting air from somewhere it shouldn't such as bad vacum line, PCV, etc. if it just throws the EGR valve as default.
We've had 3 GTPs and a GT in the family and none have ever legitimatly lost an EGR even thought the codes said so. Lots of other stuff but not that. Food for thought.

Thanks for your info mate. I was wondering and curious myself. Have read multiple sites saying they hardly ever go bad.. and its something else that trips it. Also read on another site, there is a TSB out on the EGR... still trying to locate that bulletin to read it more.

If I remember right, there were some issues with either the EGR wiring harness or the connector on top of the unit causing false codes to be generated. It's been awhile since I read that but I'm sure there is some info somewhere.
