my buddy works at Autozone he scanned it for me and said its probably my cat? the explanation is eficiency in low bank 1.

explanation the o2 sensors monitor the cat converters ability to store oxygen. i have no vaccum leaks whats a cheap fix for this??? i have NO money =[

bank 1 is the only bank. you need a new front o2 sensor.

um, what would the front O2 have to do with a cat efficiency code?

Cheap fix is not to do anything at all, so the cat isn't doing it's job, who cares?

the explanation is eficiency in low bank 1.
either there is low SWITCHING on bank 1, which is the front o2 sensor, or there is low EFFICIENCY which is the rear o2 sensor or the cat.

get a print out of the code description and post it here. you are mixing up two codes that are similar to one another. does it say that it is the front sensor or the rear?

Just give us the code. Should look like Pxxxx where "xxxx" is four numbers.

Assuming it's the standard P0420, which is Catalyst Low Efficiency Bank 1, which means the reading from the rear O2 sensor is telling the computer that the cat isn't doing it's job.

It's possible your cat is in the process of becoming clogged, at which point you DO need to fix it, this isn't something you can ignore forever.

You more than likely had a vaccum problem. When I had that exact same code it was due to one of the boost lines not being fully secured. Once I rechecked all my boost lines and made sure they were tigtened up good, I reset the code using my LS1 scanner and it never came back. Obviously if the problem still happens the SES light comes back on, there are bigger issues, ie the Sensor. If want to be cheap, you can goto a junk yard and yank one from an old car to avoid paying the high price of a new one.

Obviously by removing the bulb, thus the FAIL pic, you open yourself up to a lot more issues down the road. But if that is your idea of fixing the issue? Just sell your GP now or give it to someone who will care for it better than just removing a bulb cause you are to lazy to troubleshoot the issue.

    Well put.

Your ignorance is going to end up being harmful to the car.

I didn see anyone mention this but sometimes if you have a High Flow cat on this code will pop up every now and again.... which in that case is not that big of a deal just a pain to delete the code every summer month...(only happens to me during the summer). lol coolent temp code in the winter and exhaust code in the summer.
