Mine didn't come out with the tube. So I've been trying to fish it out in the mean time

That's odd mine has a large grommet as well. It sticks up nearly 1/4" and right now is leaking slightly. I was going to change it when I do the shift kit if I ever get out of here. I figured it would be easier to change once the pan was down and I could see the bottom side.

it should be right at the top of the hole, if theres nothing there it may not have been there, or it fell in, if it fell in its in the pan, not a big deal.

Sometimes called a "top hat" seal cause.... well... It looks like a top hat.

I have to believe it would take some sort of miracle for i to fall INTO the transmission. More likely it came out with the dipstick tube the last time it was pulled. Regardless, it just pushes in place. Held in place by the dipstick tube.

I got it out guys! And yep Brandon, it does look like a lincoln top hat. It only took me half an hour laying on the engine to wiggle the thing out.

    Scotty's never seen it

It's not an o-ring, it's not going to fall in ... It's ... well like a top hat. If you need to get it out. Reach down and push in on the sides a little ..grab it and pull it out.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I had one without the 10mm bolt, but since it didn't it rubbed a hole through one of the lines on the rack and that was one of the issues the car had when I bought it. The 2 little spot welds broke and the bolt and bracket were still on the block. Replaced it with a good one now don't have to worry about that again for a while.
