    having that combo is it bad for the trans? I dont want to run to much line pressure and kill it. I noticed black clutch like material in the fluid but no burnt smell.

    How much added psi. How firm are your shifts?

    Quick but not tooth chipping firm, even at wot. I sent an email to Zoomer to figure out how how much more PSI he adds to the tune. Will see if he replies..

    OK I noticed a lot of black material in the fluid but doesn't smell burnt or shift weird, I think it is the torque converter coming apart. I was told when I had the trans out for the TEP stage 2 install 2800 miles ago that the trans got so hot that the TQ Converter burnt off its paint of and started to rust..

    I've got the PCM and the added spacers n springs in the Transgo shift kit...seems firm so far, slight jerk in shifts when accelerating to 3k with no boost and it can kinda jerk into 3rd.

    I was going to ask the same question as Bill....And you re-used it? Crazy to think that you sink $2500 into this awsome built trans and cheap out on a reman converter that you could get for $125. Lesson learned.

    I rarely re-use the converter unless the fluid and material in the pan looks amazing....and even then if I'm dropping that kind of money on a built trans I still spring for the reman converter.

    Something to think further about..

    In the spacer plate between the valve body and channel plate are two little filter baskets. The fluid flows from the pan into the filter, through the pump, into the converter and then through the valve body and channel plate.

    If your converter is self destructing, you may already have debris in your valve body and those filters. May be a good idea to have someone go through those pieces to ensure they are not compromised while it's out for the converter. Otherwise you might end up taking it back out again.

    Trust me on this.. I'm the master of having a trans out of a car in two hours. There's a reason behind my being good at pulling them.

    experience. I had a blown engine out and new one installed and running in 4ish hours

    Thanks for this info, i will take it apart myself and see what i can do. I will pull it out next weekend

    mine was on the floor in 1.5 hours, at Bills house of course. i was amazed. the whole swap took 4 hours.
