I'm just trying to keep positive. It's the best I can do at this point![]()

Stay positive..
From the time he pulled the car into the garage until it was pulled back out for a test drive was ~4 hours.
all in all it was a 8 hour day for me, 4 to 5 hrs driving time, ( round trip 300 miles) and a tank of gas lol and literally it took 4 hours to swap the trans.
the old one was on the floor in 1.5 hrs, i was blown away some at that point lol
Funniest part was seeing Scott's face when someone walked in the garage was handed a prybar and w/o talking knew exactly what needed to be done.
max knew his roll lol
but really Bill makes it all look easy. doing the same job 100's of times helps with that. and the proper tools for the job also help.
we should all own on of them axle popping pry bars you have. i almost busted my wrist swapping that d/s axle on my own.
I post about it. I tell people about it, I tell people when I see them on ebay for a good price.

Wow. That's fantastic haha. I've always wanted to delve into more and more mechanical work on my car, but I've never really had the tools to do so. I'm hoping to start acquiring some nice tools real soon to help with overall maintenance items.
Especially a freakin jack...
Here's a small thing for me. Most people on this forum doing their own work often have at best a single boxed set of tools. Meaning they work with what I'd call basic tools. They get the job done and it all works well.
My jack is a low profile that came from Costco $100
Jack stands are standard Harbor Freight (cheap)
My engine support is a 4x4 about 3 feet in length with a piece of chain and a couple good bolts. (Usually dogbone mount bolts)
Tools you need for a trans swap?
12" extension
18mm socket
15mm socket
13mm socket
10mm socket
8mm socket
Flat blade screw driver
Good sized prybar.. may be able to use a fence post etc.
Pair of side cutters
Funnel
36mm socket
That will get you through the job overall.
shop around when your ready to get stuff, pep boys sells a jack and jack stand combo's set for cheap around x mass time, and around the year with other holiday sales.
harbor freight also has really good prices on tools of all kind, i never had one of their jacks but people here who have bought them were less than satisfied with them, didn't trust them i guess, but you not supposed to get under a car with just a jack, thats why you get the jack stands.
a small cheap bottle jack is also handy to have on hand. i keep one in my trunk to avoid ever having to use the stock jack for a flat tire. and 4 way lug wrench, the stock thing is trash. just dont use the bottle jack on the pinch welds, shoot for some sub frame to jack from.
you need to pick and choose what you do buy there lol
the jack stands and wrench sets and pullers, and O ring sets, yeah ive used all that from there, no problems.
power tools and and drill bits dont buy cheap stuff, buy good name brands. aka get your moneys worth dewalt drills and such last for years and years.
I have some HF tools. They have a swiveling head ratchet..right now it's being tested for durability with my mechanic buddy. Has large teeth..so far though..it's lasting well. Cutters, pliers .. the Pittsburgh ones are lifetime and work well.
Well, I do know that they have some variability in quality of their stuff. Some of their stuff is pretty bad, however we have had quite a few items that worked great. Just gotta know what you're looking for
