    i have a 2004 Grand Prix GT2

    first off,
    is my tranny the HD?

    how can you tell?

annyways, will this kit from zz performance work??

    http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...rhaul-Kit.aspx

and if it will, how long would it take to put in? does the trans need to come out? or can i get it all from the pan?
    thanks for help!

    1. No you dont have a HD trans, prolly more like 3.05's gears, maybe 3.29's. Those newer trannys got alot of different combo's.

    2. Why do you need that kits?? That looks like its just a complete seal kit with no internal parts.

    3. Yes the tranmission needs to come out of the car and would need to be taken all apart to redo every seal inside.

    4. I would not recommend you do this if you dont have any transmisson repair work experience.

    5. What makes you think you need to do this?

    "loose" feeling?

    "lag"?

Sounds like a stock PCM, a transmission that needs a pan drop and filter change with possibly the addition of a shift kit...and a line pressure adjustment in the file...and new motor/transmission mounts.

    There, I win.

Probably need to clean the MAF sensor and your Throttle Body as well.

A worn input piston seal area is common to our transmissions and can contribute to what you are talking about. Worn valve body parts/bores etc also contribute, as do wearing clutches taking longer to engage than say fresh, properly clearanced clutches.

Without some specific tools for the 4T65E and some experience, you don't want to rebuild a 4T65. It's not all that bad, it's very time consuming.

At the very least you want an input/3rd carrier ring resizer and a clutch compressing tool. The rest I was able to work through. Not easily in some areas. But you can get by with just those.

Bill i got the one for the input shaft off ebay. Where did you get the one for the 3rd shaft rings?? Is that also called the turbine shaft??

Thanks - as far as a spring compressor i made my own. When i get some time I'll take some pics of it. And sorry for the thread jack.
