Have been noticing my car has a little stutter when I get going from a standstill. And it holds the 1st to 2nd shift longer than usual, maybe an extra 500 rpm or so from what I used to remember. Noticed also a little whining when reversing up a slope on my driveway. Are these telltale signs of a known transmission problem? Replaced trans fluid and filter two years ago. The old fluid looked fine and didn't notice too much sludge on the magnet. Checked the fluid recently and it is up to level and looked fine on the dipstick.

1997 GTP, 137K, completely stock, only mod is K&N drop in filter. Single owner and I don't drive the car hard.
Appreciate any insight you can lend on what I may be in for.

Am considering placing it on the for sale forum but don't have the minimum number of posts to do that yet.

Are additives like Lucas transmission fix worth a try for the above problem? Or only going to make things worse?
I keep the leak sealer products out of my car (A/C sealers, head gasket fixers) since they typically cause more harm than good. Not sure if transmission fix in a bottle also falls into the same category...

I'd do a pan drop, change the filter, install a Trans-Go shift kit, then fill it back up with a quart of the Lucas fluid and the rest with fresh trans fluid and see what you get. Usually this is the best thing we can do without getting a good rebuild. And no, don't flush the trans.

thanks FordMan77. this sounds like a possible fix for under $100 or so.
