Thread: Looking for information and recomendations for bulb upgrade

I have a 2007 GP GT SC. I have followed many threads in regards to light upgrade. But of course I am still a little confused on the whole thing. Neverless, what I am looking for:

A cleaner brighter source, but also would like the sporty import headlight look. I don't want to have to perform a bunch of modification to the current wiring and/or replacing the current headlight encloseures.

I don't mind putting in a wire harness along with replacing bulbs. I am looking for the fogs also. ( note 2007 GP use a half marker light half fog light)

I don't want cheap junk nor do I want to spend a million, but will pay for quality of course.

I look for ward to your recomendations, and information on current products being used and or products that have been tested.

Silver stars going to be best balance between no moding, slight color look and good l light output. Better with aftermarket fogs.

Id go with hids 80-100 buxs best light output not hard to make a wirehanress for or you can just order the harness for suvlights.com and it is plug and play

So are you saying to just get Silver stars (or Ultra) and a wireharness?

What about PIAA bulbs. Again I am looking for a little more than a slight change over the stock, and a wire harness mod is fine. Any other suggestions?

Also when it comes to bulbs, harness etc what is a good or best place to ge them.

Hids light output almost 2nd to none but will need a harness. $80-100 for the set

so where do I get the HID along with harness.

sorry but you have me a little confused. I want the better of the two so do I go with HID and a harness or HID and a hardness.

The 80-100 for the hid is fine with me, can you point me in the right direction to buy them.

Any HID kit will provide a cleaner and significantly brighter output than the stock bulbs in your headlights. But price varies depending on the quality and HID kits, like these guys have stated, can range anywhere from $80 from an eBay vendor to $200 for a quality HID kit. It's like you said, you gotta pay for quality. Now, the Lexus/BMW/Benz blue-ish light color that you're talking about would be in the 6000K to 8000K heat range. The higher up the Kelvin rating scale you go, the more blue the light will be(10,000K for example, will be deep blue,almost violet). So if you wanted a balance between the high-end vehicles'(Lexus/BMW/Benz) blue light and a bright, white light(brighter than stock) then I would suggest going for 8000K HIDs. I dont know much about the wiring stuff, but from what I can understand some HID kits just plug into the stock wiring. This is a quote from the website that DBoy linked to in the above post:

I hope I haven't confused you any more, but I would suggest talking to BackinBlack, he's an electrical guru and could answer any questions you need to know about wiring up HIDs

So DBoy suggested a website that sells them for $40.0 for the low beams. I take it that these are very low quality ans deamed junk?

I searched over ebay and found a large range of prices, many with handfuls of information that theirs are real and the best.

Does any one have past experence with buy HID from a website or ebay that they would recomend to a fellow GP member.

So to test the water here on HID on EBay what do you think of these

do not get anything above 6000k if you do you are better off staying with stock headlights.

4500 - 5000k is the brightest
6000k bright but has the slight blue color
any thing above 6k is purple nd light output is 1/4 of what is listed above.

you dont want 8000K if you want a nice white light.

pure white is 4300K. a lot of people run 6000K which has a blue tinge, i have these. they are bright, but the scattering is horrible. im not sure if 04+ headlight capsules are better or not though..

whatever you buy, youre going to need to get a new wiring harness also.

But on the other hand many people state that a good HID kit will cost much more, so I have to believe that others on the board have some experence on the goods and the bads whne it comes to buying them.

No others on this board have upgraded to HID?

a HID kit is a HID kit is a HID kit..they are all the same.

if you can get the same thing for cheaper, why not? the only thing missing from those are the extra harness that youre going to have to buy. you cannot use the stock wiring reliably.
