A bit of heat to the plastic piece that the reflector pops into and a flathead in the back and then I just pop it out

When I did my D2Ss I didn't remove the reflector.
I mounted it to the shell, cut the reflector and black divider to accommodate the size of the shroud.
I did cut a wee bit too much of the reflector after marking the shroud on it. I didn't account for the difference of base vs projector opening size.
I also had to trim the back of the shroud to sit flush because of the indent on the shell. Also yanked out the adjuster in the process.

    sorta finished pic.

Sorry for being late to the party but here's the write up from my retrofit a few years ago. Quad Retrofit

Hopefully there's some info in there to help with the whole process if you haven't finished yet (and yes, it's also a gratuitous opportunity to whore my pictures out again). To get the reflector out I just used a large screwdriver and wedged it behind for leverage. With some gentle yet forceful pressure it pops right out. I didn't apply any heat like REDCOMPG did but maybe that helps too. It gets easier to remove each time you install and remove it, I did it probably a dozen times during my project. Good luck!
