Does anyone have a F1 hood from MPD? MPD motorsports performance design – Grand Prix / Ram Air Hood

I am thinking about getting one but I have a few questions.

    1. How good is the fiberglass...will the body shop have much prep work to do before painting?

    2. Does the hood come with the factory struts/latch attached?

    3. Do you get grill inserts with the hood?

I was quoted 550 bucks to paint this hood and that includes blending into the fenders...does this sound like a fair price?

Thanks in advance for the help!

$550 for prep and paint sounds about right. Not sure on the rest. I'd be sure to get a firm quote in hand before you have them do it as with anything custom there may be more work required to make that hood look good before paint thus increasing the amount of $$ needed. I'd take it to them and have them visually inspect it so they can get a better idea.

So what did you do about the hood latch and struts since those hoods are all fiberglass and have no steel like the mpd hoods do?

well they have to blend the color down into the fenders so the silver matches otherwise there will be a difference in the silver colors

Just talked to them and they said the only color then can match good is black..
All of the other colors then blend to get a good match...i just hope they dont need to do a bunch of prep work to the fiberglass to get it ready for paint

the MPD hood is built on a stock hood frame and will have a million times better quality that ASCD fiberglass crap hoods.
