Please note this is my first time doing this. So, I removed my air box this weekend and installed a open cone cai filter on the end of the hose that has the sensor thats connected to the flex tube. After looking at pics of other forum member's CAI I began to question why did people remove the flex tube thru airbox. I was trying to find a 3.5" diameter metal pipe locally, but all the auto part store here only had 3" diameter mandrels (which were made of some type of plastic), so I opted to just get a long open cone air filter and attach it to the piece that connected to the air box. Does connecting a mandrel to the throttle body with a rubber coupler provide better performance... How did you all get this sensor (circled below) to seperate from the hose and fit into that circular hole on the mandrel?
