12v solder tail bulbs. You can try your local Radio Shack. Pull off the fan speed knob and you can see the tiny 3/16" diameter bulb to the lower right.

I had upgraded my digital control unit with a GREEN display to a RED display I got from a local salvage yard. Though, when I plugged it in, a lot of the light bulbs on the board were burnt out, and like backinblack said above...you have to solder them to the main board.

I got my bulb replacements from radio shack. Its very tedious work but worth it and cheaper than buying a new unit.

Radio Shack has them all in any size imaginable. They have bins full of these bulbs and chances are ones the size you need.

Phone book look up, chances are there is a Radio Shack near you. They are every where.

If you don't know...just bring in your entire unit, or remove a bulbs and bring that in with you to match it up.

Off hand I cannot remember what the part number was for my bulbs I bought, but if you look close in the picture I posted, in the top, middle there is the blue thing barely in the picture...that I "think" was what the factory bulb was stuck in originally. When I installed the new ones, I did not reuse the blue part cause its attached to the bulb I believe. OR thats what I bought from Radio Shack, and just cut the blue thing off to get it to work for my application. I cant remember.

I just matched bulb sizes up and went off that when I was shopping for them.

If you have the time and money...some have even installed LED bulbs here....but i just want it to work and light up, and not be super crazy bright light up ya know. I already have other LED's in my car.

Where the heck do you live?!? Any of the R-shacks around here only sell Chinese crap toys, millions of cell phones and accessories. The days of parts bins and pegboard racks of parts are LONG gone around here... *sniff sniff*

    Wichita....Kansas....?

Never new the others changed over to stripped down electronic toy stores. The ones here are hit or miss on what they carry, as some may have one item you need, and another does not, but may have something better that the next one doesn't ya know.

The one I hit up for these bulbs had bins and bins full of everything imaginable under the sun electronic wise. The bins looks exactly like the ones at Lowes they keep their nuts, bolts, and washers in. I guess if you walked through the doors at this store...you my friend would be in Heaven.

Probably a bad solder joint, just like why HUDs get dim on many. Take it apart, and re solder the display to the board, and see if that makes a better contact.

Worse case...its the display as many have this problem, so time for a replacement or an upgrade. I'm still running my stock head unit till it dies, when it does, I'll go after market.
