imo i would do all black or all white
I just bought a set of pregens and going to paint them white like what squeeks has here. Main reason being is that the clear is peeling in a couple spots, not bad but im being picky. I was wanting to paint mine myself as well cause of wanting to save some money. My only concern was getting all the factory clear coat off. Anyone thats done it before, is it very hard? I also seen a can of this special paint adhesion at O'Reillys, has anyone tried it before? If so, does it work?
Since you have a set of polished pre-gen wheels and plan to "ruin" them by painting them, then why not sell them to someone that actually wants a set of polished ones and buy some plain silver painted ones? It would be a win/win situation because you would make $ by selling a highly sought after, hard to find wheel set AND you would have less $ in buying a painted set that you're just going to paint anyhow. You'll make someone very happy by selling them your polished ones, even if the clear is peeling off.
Aside from that, the paint will stick better to a wheel that wasn't polished like yours are. Yours, since they're polished have a very slick finish on the metal and it will take a lot of scuffing up to get the paint to adhere.
i think it would be ugly with a white car for stock wheels.
black wheels with a white lip would look awesome with black accents.
If you end up stripping and repainting them silver, just be sure to get something really bright. Some silvers pick up too much of the surrounding colors and can look horrible on a cloudy day.
just stop yourself before you make the stock wheels black. it makes them look even smaller than they are now. gun metal isnt a bad choice, but you're most likely best off just getting a craigslist special on a completely different set of wheels.
This photo was from another topic about pregens in general. The actual car did have painted white wheels but he did photoshop the shaved trunklid and he also inserted black lettering for the word Pontiac in the wheel. But that is the only thing that was photoshopped.
