Aw, that reminds me of our first GP, Silver with the front fascia painted black. It looks good, and very clean too.

I prepped mine by washing it super clean, sanding down any burrs, and taping it off. Sprayed 2 coats of self-etching primer, and 3-4coats of paint, followed by 3-4 coats of clear. Came out really nice both times.

self etching primer is for bare metal to prevent it from rusting, if you are painting plastic i recormend a good quality High Build primer (like "Flex Fill") that will help fill in some low scratches etc, just coat more if you need it, will give you a good sandable base, sand smooth, then go onto your paint coats etc.

I just sanded it down real well so it was as smooth as possible then I cleaned it with mineral sprits to get rid of any oils, waxes etc.. that would make it so the paint wouldnt stick right or make it do other dumb things. then i painted one coat of black sanded another coat sanded one more coat and left it. allowing one hour for it to dry each(to make sure that it is good and dry) I ddint sand the third then i put on clear and sanded that finishing up with one more clear with a light sanding to make it even then a good waxing and polishing to finish it off. of course there was some taping and papering in there but other then that that is the main idea. if you guys have any other questions i'd be happy to help if I can

when I was trying to get rid of some deeper scratches I was using 400 grit and i was filling the scratches with paint IE three coats of black paint. on the first coat of clear i sanded that with either 600 or 800 and then when I lightly sanded the top coat I was using 1000 grit. I was wet sanding the entire time. I almost forgot to tell you that.

Ya that sounds really good to me. you may have to do some heavier sanding in the front though. my car only has like 60k on it and i was fighting rock chips. the only other thing i would recommend is a few coats of clear. gives it depth
