As much as you are willing to spend. You can go Maaco or Earl Schieb on the cheap, but that is not necessarily going to be the best quality job. The supplies alone for good paint is not cheap. The few guys I have know that have worked or own paint shops typically say they would not touch anything under $3000, but they also warranty their work. Figure between $3-$5k. However, that is not to say you could not find a guy to do it for you on the side, then chip in some of your own labor to defray costs.
find a alky that paints cars and just pay for materials and beer haha im sure some1 like this is out there ha
Well I had an el camino that needed a paint job about a year ago. A buddy of mine knew how to do body work so we did all the work together. I paid for all the materials. Just the paint, clear coat and all other sanding stuff cost me 800 bucks. And he had a compressor to do the painting with. Most of the cost comes from labor. Took us almost 3 weeks to do ALL the work. Its an expensive process. Macco will do it for cheap but it will look like poop
macco is a joke to the car community haha in a year your paint will flake off or crack trust me i know someone that wouldnt listen to me and told me to F- off and he RUINED his 88 trans am GTA dumbass lol
thank god i know how to paint. just bought my GP and i have a lot of stone chips and im planning on painting it. ill probably spend 350 max on materials. otherwise, i would be spending more on a paint job than the worth of th car
at our body shop its usually around 4-5k for a full paint job..u get wut u pay for when it comes to this..
and my suggestion is if ur painting ur car black use mor than one clear coat..have them paint it then de-nib it wet sand it then repaint the clear...
black is by far the hardest color to maintain...u wont regret the little extra u will spend for the extra clear..and u will get a better gloss that way..
and since black is only a 2 stage paint (base and clear) it will stand up better against oxidation if u just have them spray and extra coat...
our work is lifetime guaranteed so i do it to b on the safe side
decide if its going to be a daily driver or not. Then decide how much money your willing to spend for paint that may or may not get damaged by driving everyday.
