No like with a automotive spray gun. The mixture is mostly clear, (maybe 6 parts clear to one part black), but I'm not sure. Not spray paint.

if you wanted to go really cheap a dusting of black spray paint can be used but it doesnt look very good its really dull. when my friend bought his si the prev owner had done this to it.

Hmm seems like a lot of work. I mean these results are pretty nice. I can live with these tails. Keep on top of them and I'll bet they'll stay nice for a while. If not, you could always wetsand and clear again.

Why did you go 3 coats? i grabed a can last night and might be doing this today/this week, i dont wanna become a hazard on the road in the day with people not seeing my break lights...would 2 coats be enough?

My 3 coats are fine and you can see them. Besides you have a 3rd brake light. 2 coats are fine but I wanted something darker.

do it so they are just dark enough that you can see a deep red looks best IMO mine are tinted and look black in the low light and in the sunlight look deep red. too dark looks gay IMO they dont look like llights anymore that way.

    Thats a faults statement..

    70 plus shipping is high??

Its 150 to get the done down the street from me.. Its cheaper to do them yourself but not by alot..

Masking tape, sandpaper. scuff pad,Wax & tar remover, clearcoat, tack rag, tint & thinner to clean the gun. It adds up..

I DONT use black tint/clear mix.. I use a 3 color mix that I came up with to get the best lighting out of the lights. This tint is new..

    These are my mixture

actually, i want to keep the black theme going so my wheels don't look extremely out of place, but those do look cool.

Looks good. I've got mine sitting in the basement right now drying. Did 4 to 5 light coats with 2 medium coats of clear.
    No More GTP for me.
