These two very late model Subaru STis behind me are trying to get me to go on the throttle. We are on a one lane road at this point.
One takes an exit, the other one is right behind. We get to the two lane section, I see the STI slow way down from 75 mph to about 40 mph. I slow down too.
He's still way behind and then I see him go full throttle and attempt a fly-by. At this point I get ready when he gets to my back bumper I lay in the throttle.
He's probably going 75-80 I'm still at 50. As soon as I got on the throttle, I stopped his fly-by instantly and we are side by side at 80 mph.
Then I put a few car lengths and hit 110 mph and I back out. I walked him on a long and steep uphill. Which for a heavy car, is not an advantage to say the least.

Just so you know about every single STi around here is modified and there is a very popular Subaru modding shop locally. Chances are it was pushing more boost than stock. Looked great and was pretty fast !
He didn't seem to want to discuss after, he just kept going. Looked pissed lol...

I'd probably wonder...but why would he attempt the fly-by...when it's most likely a dig only car?

    Good kill.

To give himself a chance I guess.

Stock the new STIs run 13.1 @ 104 mph so they are not that slow. That one had a full exhaust for sure and I believe more boost as well.

It could be the boyfriend of the neighbor's girl up front of my house. It's identical, has the same/similar mod exhaust, same color everything.

Never ran into a subbie I couldn't stomp.

My gutted 3.4 crappy hack tune 97 GTP wasted them things. Newer bodystyle like 08 wagon, guy I used to work with swore up and down it would smoke my car until he got into it with me at a light. Even from a dig I wasn't impressed. I think he was sleeping. Over a 100 I would have prolly lost on the interstate....... Gotta pick and choose the battles! HAHA

Nice to see more of them getting knocked back a few notches from the Wbody crowd!

Have you raced a true late model STI ? 13.1 @ 104 mph takes a decent M90 GTP to beat it, especially on street tires.
The regular Subarus are slow as hell though.

Yes 08 Sti wagon. with a cobb access port I worked with the guy back in ND.

    HEAVY!!!!!!!

That's the only word that matters in that comparison.

Ohh and my GTP was gutted to hell like I said, unless you've ditched rear sway diagonal braces metal bumper supports scrapped out all the sound deadening, no passenger airbag, plus all the obvious sh1t that has a bolt or clip holding it in, ohh maybe a little weight missing from rust too. I promise that car is lighter than your turbo parts car.....

lol no wonder it had no chance !!

I'm talking about a full weight GTP vs a sedan or hatchback STI ! ?

besides who knows if it is modded. There are 10 sec STIs around here. 11 sec STIs. 12 sec etc... all the way up to 14 sec with a bad driver.
You never know what you will be up against. STIs aren't all slow.

I had an 06 WRX TR... the "tuner ready" version... LOL with a bigger turbo exhaust e85 etc... but the TR and with the 5 Speed was light.. like 3100 lbs full weight with me in it and all fluids. Walked frosty when he was on a 2.8 setup on the interstate. I have a video somewhere... but shortly after clutch went.. then grenaded 1st 2nd and 3rd.. and went back to my bonnie :-)
