In Colorado Springs they have them. They have GT Mustangs, unmarked STI's, and a huge fleet of unmarked to include a shiny pearl Cadillac EXT. Oh..and two helicopters. I'm in WA now, and so far it's just Crown Vics and a couple unmarked Impallas and Escapes. Nothing fancy here.

Why not? For city driving, they could catch up really quick. Here in Winston-Salem they have Crown Vics, Impala's, Malibu's, Tahoe's, 2 unmarked SVT Lightning's, and 1 unmarked Maxima on the bottle ( know quite a few people in the WSPD).

Factory freak? ROFL! Thats the dumbest thing someone could have come up with. Anything can and does happen on the street, but if driven properly you still lose to the V8 charger period factory freak or not. Go to a track and find out how slow you really are then compare that to the average V8 Charger times, then you will see what I am talking about.

WHY IS EVERYONE SO OPPOSED TO DOING A COMPRESSION TEST TO TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEMS?

Hey Man, just because you got over 5 Grand in your GTP doesn't mean you can go trashing someone else's kill. I understand that you might see it farfetched but you gotta look a the facts. Charger V8's are utter piece's of dog crap. Mind you the SRT8 might give you a good one yourself. Just because they got 2 more cylinders on us doesn't mean a damn thing...as they weight WELL over 4000 lbs. Plus you have to figure he has a '04 GTP...Gen V...those are just a bit quicker than a '97-'03 when I have seen them run.

And yes factory freak. Buddy of mine had a '97 GTP with a Thrasher CAI and threw down 14.2-14.4's all day around 95-98 mph. Seems like it is RIGHT on track with a Charger...if not faster.

I don't like to go starting crap but when something is wrong (as it is here) I am gonna step in and give you my 2 cents worth.

So take your garage queen back inside and let the guy talk about a kill. I was in with the GT killing the STi thread and that I agree with...WAY OUT THERE...but this is believable.

Chargers are slow. End of story.

yea and from what i see for times of 1/4 mile are anywhere from low 13's to high 13's on stock charger rt's(EDIT) the 13 second times were for an SRT,RT's are good 14 second cars) and im finding low to mid 14's for 04 stock GTP....so on the bottom end why is it so hard to believe he beat one....i doubt they ran a full quarter mile,me and this dude live in the same town and theres not very many places u could run for any length of time with out gettin pulled over...we all kno GTP's murder sh*t on bottom end...so yea,not hard to believe.get off this dudes nuts!
i kept digging on times and this is what i found

good point....but look at the HP variation for the TA's for like 1997, they have it anywhere from 275 to 300 "factory freak" look it up its a real term. some may have gotten tuned up a little more or a little less than others. 2008 Pontiac G8 GT Full Test just to support what i said.

I saw a 600whp cobra get destroyed by a 350whp camaro for several reasons

    1) Driver error, cobra driver didn't know how to shift, camaro driver was one of the best I'd seen personally
    2) Camaro had much better tires
    3) Camaro had much better modifications for transferring the power through the vehicle, and putting the power to the ground... ex. driveshaft, axles, etc..

The Cobra driver never missed a shift, but they weren't as clean. Those several races they did is why I believe that getting modifications to get the power to the ground is as much important as modifying your engine to produce the power.

I'm wondering if I should keep my engine stock for the most part, build the trans and everything else around it to see how much time I can drop. It'll probably be somewhat significant.

i dont know to much about the chargers, but my aunt has the srt8 one. and i thought for sure my uncle said they run low 13's. so wouldnt that make the rt's slower? or i could just be totally wrong about the srt8's time. and those things are HUGE so it'd take more HP to push that weight. if your just going by HP, not actual track times.

The fastest car in the world with the worst driver will lose to an average car with a good driver. A win is a win, no matter what.

My understanding is that a Charger RT will run about what a stock New Edge ('99-'04) Mustang GT will run: mid-14's to an occasional high 13. Not bad, especially for such a heavy car.

The new Charger has really grown on me and was a contender. Never sat in one, but I sat in the Magnum and it felt like a truck behind the dash and my sister-in-laws 300 wasn't much better. So I expect that the Charger will be the same.

The Grand Prix fits me the best, really like the cockpit feel. Very nice running car! And I think one of the better looking and unique cars on the road.

'07 Grand Prix, very peppy for base 200 HP, very nice ride!

And bluegtp91 you have way more mods than me, so wtf are you talking about? Looks like you spent all that money. Maybe team hackjob can teach you a thing or two. We port our own blowers, heads, tune our own pcms, etc. But you do have a 4" intake.....*bows down* Dont get mad because your **** stays broken, my 3800 has been faithful to me. Has never died on me.
And heres my take on the whole factory freak junk, goes out the window once you start modding for real.

Okay dude, honestly STFU. Keep on bashing all these guys AND me about our cars. Your car was stock once...or maybe it wasn't you might have bought it that way I don't know. So what if its stock? What do you REALLY have against it. Reason being here this happens to be (and since your head is so far up your ass you might not have noticed) a Pontiac GRAND PRIX forum...we all drive the same damned car. And if you want to talk rice...you have a AEM part on your car LMAO...you should get a fender sticker for it...that'll add like 90HP and you can talk all the s**t you want to.

Whooptie f**king doo...you do all your porting work. You want a medal or something? Sorry that I don't have access to all those tools...and your "badass" team hackjob (which by the way is a pretty AWESOME name) *<<insert sarcasm* Makes me want to take ALL my stuff there LOL

And my car "stays broken"? Where the hell do you get your information? I had one mishap last winter where in turn I did my build. Like I said before I wasn't completely knocking your whole post there slick. Keep opeing your mouth...your getting nowhere. Your almost as bad as that guy with the GT that beat the STi...gotta bash other people before you even know their personal situation.

Your reply just shows what you really are. So keep talking trash about my Grand Prix and I'll sit here and laugh because you are wasting you time as I could honestly care less.

Sorry for the thread crapping caused here guys...continue on with a good kill thread.
