offset is not the right combo and you should shoot for something that fits more proper.

lets talk about wheel spacers. good idea? im looking for wheels and have ruled out so many beautiful wheels because of sucky offsets. admitadly i know nothing about spacers, but if im correct you use them to (for instance) make a 40mm wheel sit like one with a 35mm offset, if using a 5 mm spacer. correct me if im wrong. and would i need longer wheel studs if i found and ran a 5mm spacer? any other drawbacks?

TIA, and sorry if this has already been discussed.

spacers are fine if executed correctly. anything above 10mm and you'll probably want longer studs.

I have a 2008 Grand Prix and want to go with the Pontiac stock 2008 GXP rims. According to the factory specs the front are 18 X 8 255/45-18 and the rear are 18 X 7 225/50-18. I would like to go with the same wheel and tire combo all around so I am wondering which size you would recommend and if there's an advantage/disadvantage one way or the other.
    Thanks very much!

why dont you want to roll the fenders? it doesnt make them look any different, you just get more inner clearance.

if you want to buy new tires just go with a 225/55/17. however, that costs money and rolling the fenders is free with your time.

I cant roll my fenders because i have putty on both of them...The right side of the car the guy before me scraped the corner of his house with the car and the right side some delivery guy side swiped me... if i role them they will crack...

so 225/55/17 is my best guess?

whats the height of a 235/55/17 tire and a 225/55/17?

its going to be a skinner tire as well as being shorter.

    235/55/17 - overall diameter: 27.17in.
    225/55/17 - overall diameter: 26.74in

its not much shorter, but it may be just enough to help as well as being a skinner tire.

    HELP!!!

I plan on buying a new set of aftermarket wheels for my '00 GT and the only one I really want is The American Eagle Chrome #168 but it's not offered in anything even close to either a 5x114.3 or 5x115 bolt pattern required for proper fitment on our cars.

It's a traditional or "classic" five spoke chrome wheel and I realize there are other brands/styles out there that would work including the 062, 077 and 192 models at American Eagle alone, but I'd like my wheels to have a small (not deep) lip on them which is not offered in these other styles.

I'm pretty sure the answer will come back no across the board especially since it sounds like I'm asking how to fit a square peg into a round hole but these are literally the only ones I want and I'd kick myself if I didn't at least ask if someone knows of ANY way I can run an American Eagle #168 on my 2000 GP?

I'll attach a link with it's spec's below for reference...

    American Eagle Wheels

    Thank you!!!

you can get adapters, but normally those will add like 20mm to the offset and require you to shave down your studs. your best bet is to find something like them instead.

    EDIT:

looked at those wheels....duuuuude. those are mustang cobra wheels. find them off a mustang for way cheaper and they will 100% fit since they are 5x114.3 bolt pattern.

also, 5x4.5 IS 5x114.3....4.5 inches is 114.3 millimeters....therefore those wheels fit perfectly as is...

i would, however, suggest you think about the 17x9 instead of the 18x9 because you're going to have fender clearance issues with the offset they are offered in and they are going to stick out regardless of which set you get. food for thought.

Thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it! Since it's obvious you know more about the fitment of wheels on our cars than I do, let me ask you what I'm sure will sound like a stupid follow up question so please bare with me.

You suggested I look at going with a 17" over an 18" wheel to eliminate any clearance issues I might run into which won't be a problem since I'm currently running a 17" wheel/tire combo and plan on sticking with that size so we won't have to worry about that part of it.

Your reply indicated that the Eagle #168's I want are actually Ford Mustang Cobra wheels and it would be cheaper for me (thanks for the tip by the way) to track down a set that way since they have the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern that's compatible with my '00 GP and that's where you completly lost me.

The link to American Eagle wheel company that I attached to my original posting only sells the Eagle #168 with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern regardless of whether it's a 17" or 18" wheel.

I'm sure it's quite obvious that my level of expertice or lack there of I should say is very clear to you by now but I don't understand how an Eagle #168 wheel taken from a Ford Mustang Cobra referenced in your reply has a 5x114.3 bolt pattern and that same #168 wheel is only availble with a 5x4.5 when purchased directly through American Eagle?

Hopefully this is the last stupid question I'll waste your time on but with that being said, I'll thank you in advance for breaking the difference down to me. Once again, thank you for taking the time to help regain my sanity.

the 5x4.5 is measured in inches. 5 lug, 4.5 inch bolt pattern.

the 5x114.3 is measured in millimeters. 5 lug, 114.3 millimeter bolt pattern.

    4.5 inches = 114.3 millimeters.

they are the same wheel with the same specs.

Tried searching and found out the size/offset wheels fit but with a differant size tire than I plan on running. I have a stock 07 GXP I want to put 18x8s on it with a +35 offset and 255/45R18s, I found that 245/45R18s fit but I like the 255s better. So would 255s fit on my car with 18x8s and a +35 offset?
    Thanks
