Don't forget that it's a GXP though, anything that comes with a mileage tag saying they will last 40 or 50k miles you can toss that out the window. Getting any of them to last that long is too hard because you can't rotate the stock size tires/rims front to back.
If you had matching 18x8's and ran 245/45/18's on all 4 corners with non directional tires, then tread life will improve alot.

never heard of such a thing, they are rated to last that long with proper air psi and driving. and /or free of defects for that mile rating.
if you buy new tires and do burn outs for a week straight and make em bald you think they are gonna just hand over new tires?

To some it might, most places won't just give you a new free tire.
Everything I dealt with through bridgestone was pro-rated, you still had to pay for part of a new tire.

Rapid tire wear and tread down to 2-3/32nd isn't covered and your coverage depends on the warranty coverage with the tire you buy. So camber wear or wear from no being able to rotate them isn't covered.

they also pro rate if the tire is defective. its never a free tire.

On the topic of Cheap Tires (price wise) I've had good luck buying high quality tires cheap and used from Best Used Tires. http://www.bestusedtires.com/?gclid=...FQ-RaQodqC4C5Q Shipping is free and I always look for 8/9 32nds of remaining tread wear. Just recently got a set of Michelins that look like new and would've cost close to $800.00 for $325.00 shipped.

Treadwear warranties are bull****.
It's based on a prorata on MSRSP minus a certain percentage % mileage done versus the effective milleage warranty.
IE: If you do 30k on a 50k rated tire, for example, you might only get 10 to 20$ back per tire, top.

No such thing as "GOOD" cheap tires! You can have the best suspension, but it's garbage if you don't spend where it matters most, where the rubber meets the road! Don't skimp! : )
ive vey run the Portenza's for a while now and love em', but I don't get 40k out of them... I have agressive alignment and drive aggressively as well. That said, I've never lost grip, dry or wet. Snow... Eeehhhhh... they're So so...

Factory Bridgestones were good tires, and my GXP was daily driven thru CT winters as well. The replacements were Hankook Ventus V4, and were good as well . They didn't wear as long but needed very little traction assistance even in very bad weather. The latest tires are Hankook S1 Noble, the car wont see anymore winters so I cant confirm although they handle fantastic. On a side note I put some General G Max on my Comp G right before winter. They are all season and have a very aggressive tread. They handle fantastic and tore right thru this last winter with no problems at all, but are a little road noisy. I only have 5k on them but they show no signs of wear , time will tell.

Actually it's simple. If you spent $100 on that tire, you get $40 back towards a new tire.
I never said the treadwear warranty gives you new tires. I thought it was pretty common knowledge how that worked.
