Shifty dealers

So ive been thinking about this for a while. I bought my ford fusion last year on christmas eve.
Car had 97k miles, looked good even had a friend of my dads scope it over (he works at a garage).
Car came with a 3k full warranty, and 12k powertrain. Thought it was great. Didnt have the POS more that 2 days before the thermostat failed, fixed no issue. then i heard a knocking noise took it in, its the manifold air flow flaps. Dealer said "Its nothing to worry about, you can drive i like that just fine, i worked for ford for 30 years". researched myself, its a sign the flaps are about to break off. dealer wouldnt fix it.
said i didnt know what i was talking about. Fixed it on my own dollar. Oem parts. Then piston slap that i couldnt hear before. Dealer : " you put the wrong oil in it, your warranty is voided". i never changed the oil, and to top it off they charged me 50$ for the oil change without asking.

I mean , how can you be this shifty, ford put out a recall in europe for the intake issue. talked to a ford dealer, who said they replaced them all the time, and replaced engines from where they failed.


Ive spent more money fixing the crap the dealer should have fixed than i have in payments. Does anyone make a decent car anymore?

its called a used car. it not like the used car dealer drove it home every night. now you know why the last guy traded it in.

I know you take a chance with used cars, but my sportage i got with 130 k and it has 16x on now, and its never given me an issue.

Damn, I have bought used Grand Prix's the past 16 years.
Sure, given the amount of miles I drive per year, there are wear and tear issues. But overall, I have been very happy with each GP I bought.
I have been often was criticized by family members and neighbors who said I would regret buying used, and really regret buying Pontiacs. I have yet to feel that way.
On the other hand, a few in my family have bought used cars (Kia Spectra, Dodge PT Cruiser and LHS, Ford F150, BMW 3 Series) and they had some major repairs after driving for a year or so.

I bought it because it had a manual, and my dad had a 90 taurus wagon that hit 300k.
im irritated that the car is crap, but thats not the dealers fault, failing to honor their warranty is.

I would go through the warranty with a lawyer or someone that understands how to read the contract, and see if you have anything that will hold up in court. You can also file a complaint with the BBB. Enough complaints against a business will result in a BBB investigation, which may not result in anything, but it could result in the BBB pulling the business license.

ive heard the 2.5s are much better than the 2.3s, I still dont think ill touch another ford product though.

I can understand your hesitation. I would probably feel the same way if that happened to me. I dont remember what engine it has in it except that it is an SEL with the 4 cylinder and 6 speed auto transmission.

Get his name out there on the internet, with the poor experience you had. People do a lot of their research online these days, he might lose a sale or two.

Unless the new car warranty is still active or any extended warranty is provided by the manufacturer, it's probably worthless. I wouldn't consider a warranty from an independent dealer being worth the paper it's written on. Even these aftermarket warranty companies are a crock and not worth the time, unfortunately.

There is a local dealership around here where i bought my first car from called priority, if you have your maintenance done by the dealer, they garuntee your engine and all work for life.
they also do free oil changes, and state inspections. Theyve been good on there word so far.
i think if i ever by a brand new car its going to be a hyundai, because they have such a good warranty, and my hyundai product has held up well.
