I get the negativity towards more inexperienced people who won't listen. I'm on a S10 forum to gain more knowledge about my truck...like I said, there's always someone who knows more. Due to my low post count there, they treat me like I'm an idiot. I bite my tongue and watch for the helpful advice that pops up. Sometimes, the ignorance is all in the perception based on posts...other times it's based on what someone has ignorantly said...and sometimes people get flamed for what they've been trying to research and have found poor information on the interwebs. I don't claim to know it all, nor will I ever know it all. I try to pass my knowledge to others to help them achieve their goals. That's the point of a forum. After all...we all are here because of our passion...unless you're a dick who's just out to flame people.

The real problem is there is a difference between people who are inexperienced and just want to learn, and idiots. The other problem is there are some forums that are just unaccepting to both. I have no issues with people who have the desire to learn, but I have no patience for idiots.

I am by far not patient when it comes to idiots...I deal with them all day. Why are we calling them idiots? The uneducated are ignorant...not idiots. Those who refuse to be educated...those are idiots. I haven't been on the forum in almost a year...I still see the same questions being asked over and over. Is it frustrating? Definitely. But, at least they're trying to learn. We can't sticky everything and we can't make them use the search box...most of them don't even know it's there. Keep leading them to water...if they drink, great. If not, let them dehydrate.

the only reason you guys are starting or have been seeing more of it is that prices are falling for Grand Prix's. When they are cheap like they are you begin to have more stupid people buying them and doing stupid things to them.

met this kid yesterday, (looked 19, im sure he was i bit older) rolls in the parking lot with a ford pick up truck, goosing the gas and with each goose it went baaaappppp!!! diesel too.

he parks and i walk up and ask whats done to it. clearly its been worked on. his like its got 1400 fp of torque runs 12.8 in the quarter mile. he didnt go into details, but im gonna believe him.

then this "kid" jumps in to track skid steer and proceeds to drive the wheels off it, this "kids" a damn operator! he was out working the other guy in a back hoe 3 loads to one.

    kid was funny too.

Sven - I love your attitude, man. Yeah - it sucks right now, and it feels like it will never end...I know that feeling, but you're right - it WILL get better. Keep finding the positive, my friend, and you'll get through it stronger than ever. Keep your head up, man.

I'd love to cheer up but it's hard right now to see the positive side of anything. It feels like my life is going to hell in a handbasket without any hopes of recovery. I'll get through it and get better...it's just going to take time.

Here's the main issue - we have allowed our fear of crushing our kids egos and self esteem get to a point where kids are never told they are wrong, or ever heard the word "no". As a result, we have a generation of kids that feel they know everything and can do no wrong because that's how they've been raised. If you try to tell them they are wrong, they will defend their position to the death, because to do otherwise would threaten their entire world view - that being they are perfect, and are never wrong. The sense of entitlement out there is unreal. I'm glad there are some out here answering questions, because they at least admit they don't know everything and are trying to learn, and that's a good thing. Those kids will be successful, and won't be the ones that get out of high school, and flunk out of college in their first year because they can't handle a world where mommy and daddy aren't there to fix all their problems, and their teachers won't bend over backwards to make sure they pass. Once they find out what "responsibility" means, they don't like it, and end up back at home in their safe little cocoon. That's the future of our country, my friends...buckle up...

The number of people I know that boomeranged around back home after one year of college is appalling.

The number of people I know that boomeranged around back home after getting a bachelor's degree is also appalling.

And I've endeavored to put distance between myself and the most unsuccessful types (the druggies, the bums, those that are in and out of jail, etc.). It's amusing to get onto JailTracker or JustMugshots.com and look up names from the high school yearbook.

That all said, every generation does dumb things. At least my generation didn't pack two million hippies into an outdoor concert and do all sorts of random crap for weeks on end. Leaded gasoline, leaded paint, etc. you get the idea. Things always happen. Today it's just an iPad and a belief that everything will just be rosy. Of course that will crash on the rocks of our current president's economic reality (that so many young people voted for).

I guess I'm lucky in the sense that I grew up in a small country area. A lot of people I went to high school with aren't in jail, but many of them dropped out of college or got preggers and popped out a ton of kids. There's certainly a lot lacking due to the pussification of America a la George Bush's no child left behind act and TV. I am a firm believer in discipline and the government says it's not ok anymore because it "hurts the feelings of the children." When I was a kid, my dad whooped my ass if I was out of line, and I feel it made me a better person because of it. I was taught right from wrong and to respect my elders and authority. These values are no longer instilled in these kids because we can't hurt their feelings. We can't tell them no for the same reasons. It's just terrible.

You should see the some of the kids I went to high school with, 3 are facing life in jail for home invasion and murder. Another in in court now for robbing 2 gas stations and a waffle house. Another two did a drive by and killed someone. One of my friends got jumped and almost killed going out to his car. Few stabbings here and there. Its not even like my town is terriable. Its they are trying to be in this "gang" in a town with only like 25k people.

My name is Nathan, I'm 22 and I approve this thread. My generation and I do not get along, mainly because of what's stated above by "loopy smurf." My Sergeant Major always told me "you can not blame the ignorant for there is nothing but the lack thereof knowledge but those unwilling to learn are as useless as a box of rocks"
