Just because there is fancy chrome piping and an open element air filter, does not make it cold air induction.

By default, unless it is taking air from the outside of the vehicle, it is only sucking under hood temperatures. Yea, this kinda grinds my gears.

That's why I like the factory air filter box on the 2000s, it takes the air directly from behind the headlight assembly, and also it helps keep the air sucking noise quite.

My HAI sees the same IAT temps as my stock box did while crusing. Even after sitting then going they drop right down to usually 10 to 15 off ambient temps. Plus the HAI doesnt get heat soaked compared to what I saw with the stock box.

When you say 10-15 off ambient you mean hotter than ambient?

To avoid confusion I use the term open element air filter just like you, georgeo. When I first came here, an HAI was suggested and I laughed pretty hard. Who would want a hot air intake? No one explained but I figged it eventually. And invented a solution to suit myself, as we all do. What I still havent figured out is why front control arms are called LCAs here.

huh interesting. I always wondered what the temp with those was. I have a zzp intake and it's usually 1-2 below ambient at 30-40 mph and 50+ drops to 4 or more cooler than ambient. Not that that makes it a cold air intake but that's more of a difference than i thought it'd be.

I would REALLY like to see someone measure post blower temps with both. I would be willing to bet the temps are the exact same or VERY close.

Not in response to any post. Just saying that I bet for Blower Cars there is little to no difference

Shove a temp sensor in the LIM.

Otherwise, I'd venture that the temps are ignorantly hot on ANY non-intercooled or meth injected setup.

I like it (hai) hot air intake. Agreed, it does sound cooler, ohhh I get it cooler. So... in the convoluted universe that I live in, (sci-sounds cooler induction) makes perfect sense in that the cool sound of the air rushing through the open element filter could indeed compensate the lack of lower air temps with unadulterated audio pleasure.

I'm just tugging the snargly's folks. I have seen an induction system for the GXP that routes the air from the inner left fender which circumvents the old school forced air but gives credence to the old school forced low pressure area. This would be the difference between the 70 SS Chevelle and the 70 442 W-30 forced air setups one takes it from the cowl and the other is force fed from the front. The mathematics are maddening. Yes, that's why we have huffers and puffers.
