So, I bought like 20 Meguiar's paste waxes for 25 cents each at Advance cause they were on clearance, regularly priced around $20, sellin them off for cheap to make a few bucks on the side.

I've sold 5 or 6 of them already and it's been pretty smooth so far, until this one. The guy won the auction on eBay so next day I boxed it up and brought it to the post office, paid the shipping and sent it out.. was glad to check that off my to-do list.

We live in a really small town with a 2 employee post office, one guy is out of country on vacation and the other just quit without notice, so it's been a stream of one empty-headed fill-in after another.

About a week later I get an email from the buyer saying they never received it, so Im like wtf and went to the post office the next day... I saw my box sitting on the counter in the back and I was like uhh, did that get returned? She examined it and said Oh! There's no postage on it, I dont think it ever went out! ... So after swallowing my rage, I asked her nicely to make very sure it gets out this very day.

Got another email from the customer a few days later asking where it was, getting nervous I went back to the post office to check, and the girl there told me there was nothing there for me today and I was like ok whatever, went home to email the guy that it wasnt at my post office and to expect it any day. I got home later that same day and found the box on my kitchen table, I said to my brother "wtf did this come from?" He goes, "I went up to the post office to mail something and she gave it to me." It was marked return to sender. I couldnt figure out why as the address and postage were all valid.

So I emailed the customer back to apologize and let him know I had the wax and I would be resending it next day with tracking info this time, and it would be all taken care of, he was satisfied.

That was a week ago. Today I got another email from him, furious because he still hasnt gotten it, and the tracking number told him it was sent back to me again, I couldnt believe it so I checked and yep, the tracking number says it got sent back again, I have to go up tomorrow and find out wtf is going on. In the mean time I got a second email from him absolutely freaking out.

It reads: Hey asshole, I see you relisted my wax on eBay. Do you think Im blind? Do you think I wouldnt want my money back eventually? This is called robbery or fraud and I wont stand for it. I will get a refund TODAY or else Im opening a complaint with eBay. I am not stupid and I know my rights and ebay will get me my money back you f**king THIEF. Thanks for giving me the run around for a month, asswipe.

I was totally blown away, lol. Im far from a thief... so I explained in a long email all of the postal issues, and the fact that I have mutiple of the same item sitting in the corner of my living room. I even took him a picture to show him the stack of waxes laying there, and told him he could see exactly what happened with the tracking number I gave him

He called me a liar, told me I was good at photo shop, and the tracking number is fake... even though I used it myself, and he also claimed to have used it before, then said he's calling the police if his money isnt in paypal by midnight tomorrow night.

So then only minutes later I get another notice that he indeed opened an official complaint ticket with eBay demanding a refund. Ugh, I understand his frustration and he was being very reasonable until the nuclear meltdown today. It really got me when he accused me of being a thief, even though I have a decent seller rating... like Im gunna ruin my 100% positive feedback for 9 bucks.

I guess working in retail so long I just understand that sometimes sh*t gets fubar and out of anyone's control... and getting angry and freaking out only makes it worse for everyone involved.

It's like what I tell my customers at work when they get upset just calm down and we'll get this straightened out... and I always do get it straightened out, and the customer gets what they originally wanted, everyone is satisfied... no yelling required.

Well there's my complaining for the week.

Our post office normally has really good service, it's just these brain dead temporary people they've been sending... the post master we have has been doing it for decades and knows literally everyone in town, so it makes for really quick and easy service. I've never been in a major post office though, I could imagine it would be a nightmare.

Well, either refund the money, dont send him the wax, and take the shipping hit, or see if there is anyway to reach an agreement with him.

The ebay complaint should go away as soon as you're contacted, and show proof that you did indeed try to ship it, and have multiples sitting at home. Photo-evidence is a pretty damn good argument.

I'd be pissed if I were him too. I've gotten the run around from sellers on fourms. One of which did turn out to be a theif, I think he refunded most of what he stole from people after I harassed his family.

I would do whatever you can to save your ebay reputation, 100% positive means everything on there. Maybe sending a second product free would make up for it to him?

I agree with Spade. Send him another bottle since it was cheap. This has happened to me and there was another product shipped with the original and that made me smile. 2 things for the price of one always makes me happy.
