I do family stuff for free. I don't do stuff for people i'm not friends with or non family members for free.

I could have put stuff on it so i can remote to it and what not. O well. I like the idea of pay me or i keep it though esp the signing thing.

I'm just too nice most times. I don't charge a-lot most times i only charge 60bux. I used to only charge $20.00. I just got tired of putting alot of work into things and getting little to no return.

years ago, on thanks giving, we get a call from some friends of my ex's, its raining and their roof was leaking in the dinning room. so who do they call? me! ( i used to be a roofer) i show up and fix said leak, and they offer me a dinner to re pay me for showing up in less than 30 minutes and fixing the leak before their eyes, the bad part, she cant cook to save her life, so i just had to pass, and give them ahh dont worry about it crap. tight wads piss me off.

then at a funeral 2 years ago, they have the nerve to ask me to fix their roof some more. at a funeral? to boot i haven't seen these ppl in 5 years at this point, sorry guys i sold off all my stuff, i dont fix roofs anymore. at least i wasn't lying.

Yah my grandpa's neighbor is like that. He know's I help my grandpa out for free. He's got my number and email from Grandpa. I worked on it here and there a few times for free. Then it got to every time he saw me he wanted me to mess with it. No i'm not your charity pc guy pal. Quit looking at pr0n and clicking on stupid **** and your pc won't get infested. Thank god Android phones have an option to send calls to voicemail! It got to the point he'd call me from calling cards trying to get me to answer. I'd just look up the number while it was ringing and sure enough figure out where it was coming from. If they need me they'll leave a message. I do think he gave me 20 bux one time but still... I don't drive 30 minutes to work on your pc pal. I drive 30 minutes to see my grandparents and relax a bit.

Tried to save this thing but it was too far gone.
So I backed up what I could that wasn't totally corrupt or infested. Did a DoD wipe standard 3 passes on her hard drive to rid of any Virus's. Re-Installed the OS (VISTA x86). Put NetNanny, all needed programs (libre office, codec's, ect.), updated the pc, installed printer drivers, camera drivers, installed Anti-Virus, installed anti-spyware and provided documentations on how to use it and use the NetNanny, changed password on her personal email, replaced mp3's and migrated them to iTunes, ect.

Only charged her $120.00 when BestBuy wouldn't have done near as much and charged 3 times as much.

Spent over 4-8 hours between re-installing OS and trying to save the original OS from said virus's and then installing and updating and so forth. Get the pc to her in 3-4 days due to I working on it when i could. Put it in her car and she says well I'll pay you on the 15th of December when I get my Tribal Per Cap check from the Casino.

I wasn't at work on the 15th. I just called her because she works nights too and she's like well i used it to buy Christmas presents and pay bills. I had like 6 of them. I'm like well i got bills too! She tells me she'll have 2 child support checks coming soon and she'll call me when she gets the money. I so wanted to just blow the fvck up! I've waited over almost 2 months for this money lady! Next time it'll be a upfront price and you don't get the pc until you pay me or you'll pay me before i work on it. She did this too me last year too but then paid me straight up the ever since. Ugh! I hate getting taken advantage of. When I owe people money it bugs the sh1t out of me! I got the OS free from a friend and didn't even charge her for it. It was a legal legit copy too! I go above and beyond and I still get screwed! !?!?!

    PAY ME !

    No Jean?, No Money!

No seriously. Now you know how i felt when i put up a CL ad for tuning. All kinds of dip****s come out the woodwork expecting a close to free tune or wanting to barter with stuff i don't need..

I play, but i play for pay.

I guess I am too nice. I wouldn't charge anything for friends, family or even neighbors. I've had friends ask me how much I would want for car repairs, and I just say nothing. At the absolute most, I would just say buy me lunch or something. I don't like the idea of always expecting to receive something for your time/labor. Whatever happened to just helping people out without expecting anything in return. That's just me.

Honestly, I hate greedy people that think they are so important, that their time is worth gold and expect to get paid top dollar for every second of their time spent helping someone. I suppose that is what separates the people that make well over $100,000 a year and ones that make under $40,000 a year. To me, respect is more important than having a fat wallet. If i knew anything about the internal components of a computer, I would fix them for free.

Well when your wife loses her job and your trying to make extra money on the side because all she's got is a part time job now making 1k less a month in income well then you charge. Understand ? I'm not trying to make my wallet fat or be greedy. I do things for lunch and as do my friends, alot of times i give my friends things for free and they do the same.

I don't mind working on friends and family's pc's. This was different. I'm doing it to help pay bills.

Gal finally payed me. If she asks me to work on it again i'll definitely be a little more upfront.

Ugh, the first client I built a web site for is telling us typical "I'm not going to pay you but it's not my fault!" stuff ("I was supposed to get some money from this guy but he didn't pay me"). If he can't make the $300 payment and $9 monthly fee by January 3, we're parking his domain. Getting paying clients in this business has proven difficult so far.

This is why I do one of two things when I work on anyone's computer. I make them read it, choose an option, and sign and date it.

    Option 1:
You have 30 Days to pay in full before your computer will be returned. If after 30 days you make no attempt at paying or contacting me, I will give you a 10 day grace period, in which you can come and pay me in full before I start charging interest on the bill. After 10 days, if no attempt is made by you to pay the balance, I will apply a $5.00 storage charge for every week after that I have it. If you fail to pay for your bill after a total of 60 days, (not including the 10 day grace period), the computer will become my property and I will sell it to pay for the services I preformed.

    Option 2:
Payment Plan. If you choose this option, you agree to pay $______ weekly to pay off your balance before your computer will be returned to you. If for some reason, you are unable to keep paying weekly on your payment plan, you agree to pay $______
bi-weekly until your balance is paid in full. You must contact me if changes need to be made, I will be more than happy to talk with you about it. If you randomly stop paying, and I am unable to contact you, I will give you a 10 day grace period to contact me, or make a payment, if after 10 days you do not do either, I will start charging a storage fee of $5.00 per week. I will give you a full 30 days to make a payment (starts from the last date you paid), if you do not make any attempt after 30 full days, I will again try to contact you, if you can not be contacted, your computer will become my property and I will sell it off for your remaining balance.

    ------------------
These two options are from my real contracts I use when fixing anyone's computer, Most of them pay in full and get their computer back, a few just dropped all contact with me, and I ended up selling their computer. If they refuse to do either option, then I refuse to service their computer. Let bestbuy do it for more than I will
