    "Yes I'm on it now"
"Well its not working for me."
"I appologize sir, but we do not control the wifi, its controlled through a 3rd party, Time Warner. I can give you a number to call them and they can help you troubleshoot."
    "Isn't that your job?"
"Sir I don't have your computer in front of me to work with, this is...."
"I'll bring it down and you can make it work."
    *Click*
    "sir...." FWACK

so he comes down and I tell him I am not touching his computer, I don't want to be blamed for something happening and all this other happy horse ****, he got all super pissy....and told me that I was a worthless employee and wanted my name and all this other crap

As an added note...I'm an Ex-IT, I'm certified 6 ways to Sunday.

9 times out of 10...its an ID10T error...or he's running vista with all the preloaded software and about 50 viruses.

    x2 on the ID10T error.

Sometimes I will help if they are nice but i never touch the pc. I make them do it. One time a lady was using vista on her son's laptop and wanting to facebook. She was using the guest login because she didnt' know her sons password. Come to find out the Guest didnt' have any privileges not even to the wireless. So i had her try her son's acct and it wasn't password protected and connected right away...GRRR>>> Stupid old people. Or if they are beligerant i'll take a laptop up there connect to it with the said password infront of them and say see it works. Sorry i can't help you its good on our side.

I commonly tell the heffer next to me that the problem exists between the keyboard and chair. She understands what it means...it means..I'm right.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Good for being smart enough not to touch it. I know too many IT dweebs that feel the need to prove themselves as competent by fixing the sh*t out of everyone's computer (poorly) - they tend to get themselves in trouble with it. If it's not your problem, it's not your problem.

Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

    Dave,

Should have taken them all the way to the top floor stating it gets better reception. Then throw their laptop off the side and say it's fixed. Then do a little of this action to the person.

This is why I tell people to buy macs. I can't fix them and they can go harass the people at the Apple Store.

If I fix something by doing absolutely nothing to it I tell the customer that I had to apply some PFM to the kernel.

    PFM = Pure Fuggin Magic

Not the issue. If one computer can connect and run fine its the person's pc not the router.
