its this box that slides on ur window to detect the amount of light getting thru the window...my film allows 20% light to pass thru it, but he factory windows blocks 7% of light...so 13% of total light gets into my car

Was pulled over once for this at the time I had 20% all around. I have two law enforcment troopers living on my block and to them it is a safety issue.. I simply removed the front tint went to court and showed the judge my compliance to the law and she dismissed the ticket two months later illinios changed the law to allow 35% in front and 30% in the rear...so I'll be re tinting..I'll also be putting wrap around louvers on the rear as well and installing a gun rack!
it would be about that yes. i was surprised the first time the meter told me 13%, but then i had the "factory tint" thing explained
lol i'd like to see one of these "meters" you speak of![]()
I drive a truck for a living. Give this a try sometime. Did I also mention that I cross the border allot too. The Michigan State Police (and revenue) sit right at the exit to the Ambassador Bridge and pull over Canadian trucks all day and night for the most rediculous things. It's about money. From the Caribbean to the Arctic, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, municipalities are trying to balance their budgets by pulling people over for stupid crap, in the name of $$$$$ and saying it's for safety or (my personal favourite) security. I mean I know that there is no crime in Detroit so these POS cops have to worry about bloodthirsty crimes such as parking and not coming to a full stop when there is no stop sign.
These leeches who pulled you are just trying to justify their jobs. Blame your politicians and vote them out.
PS. I'm from Canada and last summer I was cruising Woodward in Detroit in my Ontario plated car and one of Birmingham's finest pulled me for side tinting and it's totally legal in Ontario as long as you can see through it. He said he could give me a ticket for it. My reply was that every Michigan car that goes to Ohio can be ticketed for not having a front licence plate following that logic. I had a good laugh over that. It's about $$$$$$$ guys and girls. In the end, I left with nothing except for a bit of harassment.

Hey my tint ticket was $115, so you all are lucky IMO! and on the "factory tinting" if it is 7%ish, I have 5% so does that mean I have -2% light coming thru? lol
This is why i've never bothered to tint the windows on any of my vehicles, they draw enough attention from the cops much less having a reason to be pulled over.
i got pulled over for being in a "known drug area" and they put that meter on my GTI and got slapped with a 350 ticket..that **** suckeddddd
i drove past two highway patrolmen on my way home from school last week doing a little over 80. they didn't even move. that's what we pay those state boys fori live in a town with probably 1200 people or so. we got rid of our police department a few years ago. every now and then there's a sheriff that sits in a parking lot and waits for speeders. needless to say, we're not too worried about any kinda crime around here haha. i can't wait to tint my windows. i've got plans for this summer
its stupid that undercover cops can have darker than legal tint. of even regular cruisers. but since there cops i guess there above the law right. i have 15 on mine and havent had a problem...yet![]()
I think mine had a light tint since brand new, but it was a georgia car. Got a verbal warning since i was on temp plates at the time, never bothered again. Illinois now accepts tints in the front so no problems for me. Perfect tint too, light enough not to get attention and dark enough at night not to have strangers peek.
