alright, got it redone tonight and on the rear section of the rear side windows they actually got it finished over the dot matrix. Looks great but the guy told me not to expect it to stay. Nonetheless, it looks much better. They told me that the adhesive or whatever still hadn't dried (after over 3 weeks!) so that's why it looked so crappy. Anyway, we'll see how much better this is after a few weeks
I agree, its pretty absurd to assume that people are going to have their vehicles "legal" in all states.
What emissions? Do you have to install a cat when driving into different states? Little much to ask really.
Should be a federal law but traffic laws are a state/provincial issue.
I got into an arguement with one of Texas' Finest State Troopers that know everything about the law over my windows on my miata... told him I BOUGHT it in TX with the tint i had on it *lied*, they had a new RX-8 with the same tint (5% all the way around, for an extra 800, so i pulled it for my fight) and he told me that it didnt matter that it was MY responsibility to make sure it was legal for TX. So i asked him why i had to make it legal for tx if i have it registered in OK, and live in OK, but drive to TX for the movies... and he said it doesnt matter where you live, its what state your in that matters. So OK's lack of laws for emissions dont matter in TX, you can be towed for no cats, no front plate, too much tint, an intake or anything else thats not factory... by state law
I told him that Ill keep my windows down around him but that he could kindly NOT harrass me about my car or id get my lawyer involved. Out of state laws should NOT matter, but most cops think they do. Oklahoma doesnt care, if your out of state it better be to spec for where your from.
That cop is full of it. You are liable for traffic citations, parking etc. But not equipment crap like tint and license plates on the front. He was just trying to intimidate you. Where I was was on a road that is known as the mid-west's hot bed of street racing called Woodward Ave in Detroit. I was doing 35 mph in a 40 mph zone and got pulled in my Mustang. Yep, cops just love the Stangs. He didn't notice my plate until I gave him my license and he noticed I was from Canada. He still tried to intimidate me and eventually let me go. Business as usual.
If you buy a car in Michigan for instance and want to register it in Indiana, you have to have it conform to Indiana's equipment standards, i.e. smog test or whatever.
