I don't know if this is the appropriate place for this. But my car just fell victim to a UIM failure. Her L36 is toast. I'm not looking for a replacement motor. Be it L36, L26 or L67. I'd prefer the latter. Since boost is boost. But if I have to I'll settle for N/A. My budget is about a thousand dollars. Maybe a bit less or more. But in that area. Any help in finding a motor around the Chicagoland area would be very nice, and any help putting it in would be awesome too. All in all, thanks in advance for any help.

I searched car-part.com for 2007 Grand Prix with vin 2 aka L26 as they are ususally the best price in the Chicago area. There were some that popped up with 30K for about $400. More with 100K+ for $250 and up.

Not sure if you have a mechanic or are buddies with a mechanic that has a shop. If you do.. most places within a couple hundred miles will deliver for free to a shop. I do this with a buddy who has a shop at times. Or .. find a buddy and go with a truck to grab it. At that pricing you can easily toss the guy gas and some extra for his help.

Then you drop it in and smile.

You are sure you're engine is toast and not just hydrolocked? Often when they lock, they are still good.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Well, it's got hella milkshake and won't crank anymore. I take it that means hydrolock? Are my bearings too far gone to save at this point?

I have a L67 with 96k miles from a Regal GS. Granted we're kind of far from each other, but if you want to make the drive, I have one for ya.

Right now I'm not sure. I don't know if I have a way to get over there. Plus gas would be a lot.

Alright. L26 time. I've decided against boost for the following reasons: Better fuel econ, no need for premium, easier to swap, and no need to do LIM gaskets or any of that.

Um, the supercharged engine doesnt make that much less than the n/a engine, in some cases it makes better mileage, and if your car is already supercharged its actually going to be harder to swap in a n/a motor, and both the n/a and supercharged cars used the same lim gaskets so idk what your talking about there.

    He had a UIM failure..that's L36.

2007 has the metal LIM's. Better UIM. Only thing he needs is a TB adapter.
