So i have a cam swap (.505/.515 custom cam?), a 3.4 pulley, 3 inch DP into 3 inch exhaust, cold air, ported charger and ported lower intake, with a stock DHP file and my best quarter mile run was a 14.8.....wtf????? I didnt have any extra weight in the car just me and no spare. It seems really poochie too compared to my 98 GTP. I do have a 98 PCM in the car IDK if that would matter??? oh and I was getting a little knock when i ran but nothing too crazy (like 2 degrees). Any ideas to is going on?????

    4. You should get the crap beat out of you for making me continue this list in multiple locations.

Get your azz back to your original thread, pull the f'n timing cover and find out if you screwed up.

Notice how I got #3 and #4 into this post? Multiple posts anger the 3800 guru's.

Well...not just that...it probably is a multitude of things...I bet it was installed wrong too...plus that cam is tiny...its smaller than a XP or S1X...and is BARELY bigger than a VS.

i dont mean to anger anyone, i just had that issue resolved so i felt another subject would constitute another topic?? My mechanic was fairly confient that if it was off it would throw a cam sensor code bc they do have cam sensors.. Is that not correct??? Plus i found that i had a bad knock sensor due to service engine light coming on, my O2 readings are around 870 so it is running pretty rich so a tune is def in order, just so i am aware what should i be running with this set up if i wasnt getting problems??? I guess that would help me realize how much of an issue i have

Depending on where that 870 reading was taken. Should be WOT, then 870 would be considered...about to pop a piston lean. 870 isn't rich at all. And yet.. I may be lying to you, because a narrow band reading is darn near the most inaccurate reading our cars can give us. A wideband is the only real way to know what your fueling is doing.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

if you have half as much KR as you have timing advance.... you'd be at zero timing advance.

Get any more than that.... negative timing?

You ever seen a NIC cam car? Manifolds only...they are torquey SOB's.

    Research.

Easy...you've got a cam. Headers don't give you THAT much top end. I think your misinformed. Headers MOVE the powerband up top, where at manifolds keep the torque and powerband down low and in the midrange...plus, as long as your front manifold is ported (or have a PLOG)...and a 3" DP, your fine. The crossover and rear manifold are hardly restrictive, especially since the rear manifold is tubular from the factory.
