Which side has the longer axle again?
so the driver side is the longer one passenger side is smaller?
That driver side axle wooped my ass. I didn't get too far today, ac compressor, power steering and right side axle are in.
The way I removed the driver side axle was by removing knuckle at the strut, I couldn't pop the joint off. That didn't work for installing, one the axle was in it was impossible to line up knuckle and strut, so now I'm back to the ball joint. With a long steel bar over the arm 300 pounds on top and heavy sledge hammer banging it doesn't nudge one bit. Any other ideas on how to get the axle in or remove the ball joint from hell?
no the rod was still on on the struts it was very very difficult to align the bolts at the strut, but perhaps the rod will free up some space. My specific problem was that once axle was in the hub and i raised everything up to the strut the lower bolt would align(with a schittload of force) then when i would apply force to align the top bolt it would somehow just stop and instead of lining up with hole it would start shoving the axle into the trans? what a pain, i even took off the bracket and rotor to lighten it up..
lol alright then, i cant wait to have that in tomorrow. everything seems to be going really slowly. I have another issue, one of the electrical plastic pieces that clips on to something came off at the wire (prbly happened when dropping in, cant find actual plastic piece) if it ripped off from the wire harness how can it be replaced?
you'll need to figure out where it goes to, then either get another plug and some wire off it from a junk yard and solder it on. or you can buy pig tails on line, but you need to know what its for.
Here's a pic, that's the power steering on the side. that green one stems from the same location as the stripped one
Edit double post just noticed

One last axle question before I get started again. I noticed that the passenger side axle has some play in it once installed. The driver side is very stiff with no play at all.I haven't fully installed it but had it in trans and hub and while trying to line everything up I noticed difference. Is this normal? I could feel the axle ramming into trans unlike the passenger side.
Not sure when this happened..
Here's a better pic of stripped wire, that green plug looks familiar maybe you guys can id. This is by the passenger side near power steering

Just a heads up to save you some grief. The RH axle is the longer of the two.
