Are we all so close minded that we would only let gp's enter? Even though regal's are the exact same car? Same with impalas, park avenues, bonnevilles, and the rest of the late model 3800 variants.

Seems odd to me, we have threads upon threads of non gp vehicles but ROTM has to be GP only?

No one is gonna vote for a white car.

Only car everyone wouldn't vote for was Plammy's.

That's why the mods should just make the rules and be done with it. Do we really need every asshat's opinion? (including myself ;P)

It's not an issue of being "close minded". It's a matter of this is a Grand Prix SPECIFIC message board. Just like there's a few Regal specific message boards.....and Impala specific message boards.....and Bonnevilles......and Pa--- no, never mind. No one gives a damn about Park Avenues. You get my point. What sense does it make to have a car specific message board if any car is allowed to enter the "best of the month" contest on said site? It's one thing to talk about other cars in an "other cars" section, just as there's an "off topic" section on just about every message board out there. That doesn't change the fact that the main point of this particular message board is for GPs. If I want to see a contest containing something else, I'll visit that car's specific message board, or a generic car site like The Chicago Garage, or something. If I were interested in seeing anything with a 3800 in it, I'd visit a site where they worshiped the 3800 (e.g. 3800Pro.com). It just completely defeats the purpose to me to "expand" the range of cars for a ride of the month contest on a site designated for a specific car.

The name is GP specific. That's about it content wise.

The users here are all over the map car wise.

Better name this thread GPOTM so people don't get confused.

There's no reason for confusion, unless current/previous GP owners are easily confused. What other site are you on that's car specific that allows other vehicles in their car of the month contests? As to people with all kinds of cars being on here, that doesn't really have any bearing on the topic at hand. People can join any car site because they're a fan of that car. Owning one is not a prerequisite. For example, despite never owning one, I'm on the Bonneville Club because I've always loved those, LeSabre T-Type forum because I love those, etc, but I don't plan on entering my GPs or 6000s (when I had them) in a car of the month contest on those sites. Likewise, I plan to still be on here when I ditch my GTP shortly. And while I may talk about what I got to replace it in the "other cars" section, by no means would I be interested in entering it in a car of the month contest on here given there's a 99% chance it won't be a w-body, let alone a GP. Doing so would seem weird, fuked up and nonsensical to me.

I guess I just don't understand the fascination and need for people to bring attention to their non-GP cars in this manner when there are plenty of sites dedicated TO those cars. The thought of doing so even popping into someone's head is weird to me. There's an even wider spectrum of cars on w-body.com, yet never once has the idea of someone entering something other than a w-body in the car of the month contest crossed someone's mind, not because they're "closed-minded", but because *it doesn't make sense*. So why is this such an issue for current/previous GP owners?

The one site I am is 3000GT/Stealth specific and we had one month that was for anything other than a 3/S and a Corvette won. This site might at well be called 3800wbody.net. Just because it is called GrandPrixForums.net doesn't mean ROTM should be limited to just Grand Prix's when there are a ton of Malibu's, Monte's, and Regal's here.
